Music written for a short film about time travel. A man is imprisoned and forced to develop a time machine, only to realise that his invention may have had an adverse effect on the future for mankind.

These pieces of music were written in Adlib Tracker 2 using mostly unique FM instruments designed in the same program. Played back and exported through the AT2 emulator on a modern PC.

Recorded from an official Yamaha OPL3 core in a Creative AWE32. These two songs comprise the majority of the music that I wrote for my major project at university. The instruments in 4OP were designed by me in Adlib Tracker 2 and were intended to exploit the 4-operator mode that is possible with AT2. The instruments in Mountain came with Adlib Tracker 2, they are an FM emulation of the instruments found in a Roland MT-32. Back in the 90's, video game music tended to be in MIDI format and was either designed with FM playback (OPL/Adlib) or GM playback in mind(MT-32, set the standard for many GM modules to follow). Mountain was intended as a comparison between the two popular methods of producing video game music in the early 90's - see my other version of this song for the MT-32 to hear the difference!

Mountain (OPL)

Mountain is the MT-32 version of the FM song written for the OPL3. Which do you prefer: OPL or MT-32? 2nd Mountain was written shortly afterwards and was intended to be a better example of what the MT-32 is capable of. The MT-32 sound was achieved using the Munt VSTi (I do not own an actual MT-32, but Munt is an incredible emulator!)

Two compositions using sounds and effects created in Max. Recorded, sequenced and controlled in Ableton Live. The second track goes a bit further with synthesized drum sounds and filtered/distorted electric guitar - all done from scratch with Max and Ableton Live.

Ambient Piece

This was a piece of music I wrote as part of a project to recreate a scene from the original Blade Runner film with new, unique music, dialogue and sound effects. This piece begins as Roy arrives at Sebastian's apartment in the elevator, prior to his showdown with Deckard. Sounds are from an Akai SG01v module.

This piece was written for the bit where Roy discovers Pris' dead body. Sad as you can imagine.
