Will & Ink’s latest is a remix EP that finds Bambounou and Simo Cell team up for four reworked versions of Yaleesa Halls Woodall LP. Bambounou is a Paris-based hybrid techno and house producer who has long been close to the 50 Weapons label, and Simo Cell is an experimental artist whose music finds a home on labels like Livity Sound and Wisdom Teeth. 

Up first, Bambounou goes in and turns ‘Woodall 0217’ into a menacing, stripped back track with a soft flurry of toms and freaky sine waves all underpinned by lurching, subliminal bass. Simo Cell then steps up for a version of '0224' that is much more dubbed out and for the club. It breezes along on a swaying groove with hi fidelity sound designs colouring the airwaves as the drums scurry down low. Then the pair link up for their Trance-Attitude-Mix of 'Woodall 0406'. Again the drums are weightless down below as they turn in big, sweeping loops and the slivers of silvery synth really electrify the whole thing as they flash about like fireflies. Finally, they remix the same track again but remove the drums, instead making it a paranoid and dark, spares and suggestive minimal number that is wholly from the future. These two have a very specific sound and one that sounds like little else, a solid match with Yaleesa Hall and the Will & Ink imprint, as this EP proves.

Yaleesa Hall is back on his home label Will & Ink with two EPs in quick succession. After releasing his debut album in 2016 this is the first solo output from the Amsterdam based producer on the label. This first EP is entitled Zoe Hayley Laura and features a trio of tracks that melt electro, techno and broken beats in arresting ways. Opening up the EP is Zoe Price, a silky electro track with shooting synths and big downward bass strikes that add real depth. It's a urgent and arresting affair to wake up the floor. Hayley Roach then has much more forceful drums that come in one two punch combinations to the gut. Synths writhe and gurgle up top as pads rise up and down the scale and the whole thing is brilliantly large. Laura Pomeroy then rocks back and forth on its heels, with train track like percussion and malfunctioning machine stabs. It’s a real tussle between different elements and locks you right in as a result. Once again then, the irrepressible Yaleesa Hall leads from the front.

'First Wilson' is a well swung bit of dub techno that rocks back and forth in a vast open echo chamber and features some crazed machines taking control and whirring manically until the dubby, pendulous garage groove returns once more. 'Second Wilson' is a more flat-footed slow techno jam. The kicks are hard and fast but are softened by blurts of thick synth and various little sound effects and wouldn’t sound out of place on Fachwerk, whilst closing track 'Third Wilson' is another muscular and physical thing with barrelling kick drums, little rays of synth light shooting through and warped and reversed tones cut right through it all to devastating effect. It’s rave and jungle like at the same time as sounding thoroughly contemporary.

Now on to the third release, Dutch duo Will & Ink have turned plenty of heads with their raw and pounding sounds. This latest EP, Mersenne, is no different and features four more tracks of hardware made house.

Opener 'First Mersenne' is a hunched over techno kicker with loud in the mix hi hats leaving icy trails in their wake as chunky beats race below. It's a powerful groove that sweeps all in its way aside. 'Second Mersenne' is similarly defiant in its mission to get from a to b and has some kin ship with the bulky loops of analogue technoists Skudge. 

On to the flip side, 'Third Mersenne' is spikey and splintered, with wooden drums and rattling dub chords that work toward a heady and intense peak. Indecipherable vocal yelps hide within the arrangement and add an extra sense of urgency. Finally, 'Mersellanious' is a beat less sketch of pulsing synths and alien sound effects that entombs you in a warm pillow of sound. It's the way each sound is sculpted so expertly that makes these heavyweight tracks so essential.

Elusive techno silhouette Yaleesa Hall drops three new ones for their very own Dutch label Will & Ink. High-tempo techno and electro with the occasional sprinkling of EBM essence, this trio of tunes are as jackhammery as they are dreamy, with 'Newman' providing the gloomy foretaste; 'Shanks' the dreamy, electrified meat-on-the-bone; and 'Williams' the rapturous coda. Forever pushing the envelope, Hall hits with rapid fire, synth heavy techno to glitching, low-end electro and atmospheric electronica.

The impressive Will & Ink label hits release number four with a new EP from label debutant Yaleesa Hall. This marks an expansion and progression for the label, as it is the first time Will & Ink themselves have not been behind a release, a path they will continue to follow in the future.

The three tracks of the EP are straight up club bangers. 'First Leyland' is well swung, dubbed out and raw bit of concrete funk with whip snapping snare lines and moody atmospheres percolating in the background. 'Second Leyland' has a woodpecker like percussive hook running right through the middle of bulky kick drums. Fizzing textures and sandy surfaces add layers of intrigue and help pull you right into he heart of the track before closer 'Third Leyland' toys with broken, stuttering beat patterns, itchy hi hats and rippling dub techno chords. Raw and inventive, stripped back but full of feeling, these are compelling techno tracks that sound like little else out there right now.

The Will & Ink label now hits release number 5 with an EP from Malin that features two new cuts and a remix from Yaleesa Hall. Amsterdam and Paris based producer Malin Genie has released some well received house and techno bangers in recent times, and runs his own label Oscillat. With a keen sense of heritage but one eye on the future, here he serves up two more intense and floor focussed cuts. 

The first is 'Deorbital Descent', a turbo charged and hard hitting techno track with overdriven kicks, big daubs of synthy hook and a real sense of urgency. The claps are hard as you like, and the drums are no less menacing, so think peak time warehouse tackle and you'll not be far wrong. Next up, 'Agaric Fly' is a much more stripped back and down low techno roller with hubby chords, groaning bass and rubbery kicks that seduce and hypnotise. The remix comes from Yaleesa Hall, who has released a solo EP on the label before now. The resulting track is a fulsome, scurrying techno affair with edgy stabs, hurried drums and a real sense of foreboding.

Once again then here, Will & Ink have unearthed yet more lovable, no-frills techno for serious heads everywhere.

The unstoppable force that has become the Will & Ink label now offers up its first remix EP. Those hand picked to work their own magic on three originals by the the Will & Ink production duo are Fachwerk’s Roman Lindau, Greek born Emmanuel and Yaleesa Hall, the mysterious artist who released her debut EP on this label back in 2014. 

Up first is techno heavyweight Roman Lindau, who is a key part of the Fachwerk label. He tackles ‘Mersellanious’ from the Mersenne EP and does so with his usual stripped back, well swung sense of techno funk. Next up is ARTS label owner Emannuel, who goes for a fierce, intense and edgy peak time techno banger full of raw texture and incendiary drums on his remix of 'Third Wilson' from 2013. Lastly, Yaleesa Hall sets to work on a track from the same EP and does so with a little, fluid sense of hypnotic techno groove that comes embellished with heady synths and a real sense of purpose. Once again here the Will & Ink label is showing the way when it comes to contemporary techno talent.

Will & Ink - Third Wilson (Emmanuel Remix)

Yaleesa Hall has released solo tracks and remixes on the Will & Ink label before now, and here returns with four new cuts on the Perrin EP. The unknown producer turned plenty of heads with its first full outing, and the stripped back but succulent sounds on offer here will surely do the same again. 

The first cut is 'First Perrin', which has massive rubber kick drums rolling beneath little flecks of static and raw metal texture. Synths groan under the weight of the drums and overall the track makes for a perfect warehouse or basement banger. 'Second Perrin' is no less subtle. Once again it has gigantic kick drums, but this time they are more rocking and punchy, and have icy hi hats riding long side them. Deep, droning bass sounds and clever use of filters add a sense of scale to the track and it cannot fail to suck you in as a result. 

'Third Perrin' is another, organic, humid and rather oppressive affair driven by perfectly sculpted kick drums. They hit hard as itchy hi hats and dehumanised vocal sounds try to keep up but instead get sucked under by the groove. Lastly, 'Fourth Perrin' has a wonky synth line riding up and down, slicing into the barrelling kick drums as they cut in and out. 

This is expertly hypnotic, over sized and cavernous techno that will suck you in, sweep you up and trap you in a perfect trance.

The now well established and widely respected Will & Ink label hits release number eight with a debut collaborative effort from Yaleesa Hall and Malin Genie. They serve up three tracks having both released individually on this label before now, and while Yaleesa Hall is still someone we know very little about, Malin Genie is the producer who co-runs the Oscillate label, is based in Amsterdam and Paris and works with Lazare Hoche and Samuel Andre Madsen as Mandar. 

'First Lucas' is a tough, abstract kicker with industrial sound design and weird synths the only accompaniment to a monstrous, earth moving kick drum. Truly hypnotic and all consuming it is followed by a brief bit of dark interlude music before 'Second Lucas' pairs ghoulish sounds with well swung wood block hits and watery pads. It is a forceful groove full of occult atmosphere and lastly 'Third Lucas' is again about solid kick drums and freaky sound design. Here squelchy synths and frazzled lines all dart about as hunched kicks stomp out a macho groove below. This is perfect warehouse music once again from the Will & Ink label.

Next up on Will & Ink is a second release from Yeleesa Hall & Malin, hot on the heels of their last collaborative effort, Lucas, at the end of 2015. Once again the mysterious Hall and Amsterdam/Paris based Oscillate Music boss cook up some hard hitting house that is sonically inventive. 

Opener ’First Carol’ has hulking kicks and hits and a writhing, monstrous sounding synth line that brings real rawness and energy to the four-four beats all around it. Some spooky little beat-less passage of eerie industrial sounds appear before ‘Second Carol’ again slips into a well swung and purposeful groove. This one is rubbery and rolling, with dubbed out chords riding up and down and airy hats adding a sense of scale. Another EP of contemporary club music of the highest order.

The esteemed Will & Ink imprint hits the mini milestone of a tenth release by inviting old and new associates to remix some of the label’s still essential back catalogue. The results are as weird and wonderful as you would expect of a label that has always gone its own way.

First up is London producer Mosca, who remixes Yaleesa Hall x Malin’s ‘Second Lucas.’ The Not So Much label boss flips the track into something intense and brutal, with lashings of frazzled industrial synth sounds whipping about above pinging and high impact drums. Italian Chevel—an associate of labels like Stroboscopic Artefacts—then transforms ‘Third Lucas’ into five minutes of otherworldly machine made oddness. Ambient synths are stretched, skewed and filtered, rough textures brush up with the occasional kick sound and the whole thing is gloopy and utterly unique as it suspends you in sound. Then comes Livity Sound star Asusu with a typically hi fidelity re-work of ‘Second Carol.’ Dubby and loopy, metallic and clean, it is a pristine track to get dance floors locked to a groove. Last of all a Stripped mix of ‘First Carol’ mixes minimal dub with freaky sound design and the result is an earworm of a tune that burrows deep into your brain.

Amsterdam based artist and creative technologist Andeh Lang is back on Will & Ink. After debuting on this label in August 2016 with an uncredited black label, he now serves up three more tracks that show off his interest in shaping and sculpting sounds for the main imprint. Shadowy Dutch producer Yaleesa Hall returns on his Will & Ink imprint with yet more fascinating techo derivatives. We thought it was pretty hard to beat his last release (Zoe Hayley Laura) but WNK 013 certainly delivers the goods. From the Bristolian, low-end driven techno assault of "Daisy Wright" (featuring a truly ripsnorting bass!), it follows the slow burning, dystopian electro journey "Barbara Adams". The electro flavour continues on the flip, with some mental smacked-out breaks on the futurist journey "Harriet Brown" which comes with a rather experimental and IDM influenced VIP mix to even out the B side.

The essential Will & Ink label continues to keep up the pressure with a new EP from Museum aka Anton Pieete and Jeroen Liebregts. The pair have released on vital labels like Marcel Dettmann Records and Indigo Area and make some of the most robust and powerful techno around. Their three new tracks here come with a remix from resident label artist Yalessa Hall. Opener 'Silo' is an urgent groove with warped and rumbling synth lines and frazzled textures. It's sparse and industrial as it barrels along while 'The List' is much more wild. The drums flail around, the hits are off grid and the energy is restless and rugged. 

Lastly from them, '1500' has punchy drum programming and watery sound effects, sci-fi motifs and a sense of turbulence that will make a real impact in the club. The raw Yalessa Hall remix flips 'The List' into a freaky house track with smeared synths and big hits making for something incendiary and unhinged.
