Catz 'n Dogz are dropping on their Step the 'Reality Check' EP from Milan's legendary Elisa Bee.

Elisa Bee is not a new face on the scene. She has released music on cutting edge labels for the last 10+ years, including UTTU, I Love Acid, Balkan Recordings to name but a few. She now joins the extensive roster of Step Recordings which includes the likes of Third Son, Jackson Ryland, Baltra, Metropolitan Soul Museum and many more.

Elisa Bee's latest work, 'Reality Check' EP, is a collection of 3 club focused gems, starting with the trippy and somewhat melancholic title track. The second cut, 'Soul Travelling' is pure space age Techno, with relentless synth melodies driving the track's unstoppable groove. The now well established and widely respected Will & Ink label hits release number eight with a debut collaborative effort from Yaleesa Hall and Malin Genie. They serve up three tracks having both released individually on this label before now, and while Yaleesa Hall is still someone we know very little about, Malin Genie is the producer who co-runs the Oscillate label, is based in Amsterdam and Paris and works with Lazare Hoche and Samuel Andre Madsen as Mandar. 

'First Lucas' is a tough, abstract kicker with industrial sound design and weird synths the only accompaniment to a monstrous, earth moving kick drum. Truly hypnotic and all consuming it is followed by a brief bit of dark interlude music before 'Second Lucas' pairs ghoulish sounds with well swung wood block hits and watery pads. It is a forceful groove full of occult atmosphere and lastly 'Third Lucas' is again about solid kick drums and freaky sound design. Here squelchy synths and frazzled lines all dart about as hunched kicks stomp out a macho groove below. This is perfect warehouse music once again from the Will & Ink label.

Phantasy approaches it’s landmark hundredth-single release with another impactful single from one of the label’s key artists, James Welsh. Regularly played by producers from Midland to Charlotte De Witte, Welsh’s masterfully dense take on techno and electronica reaches new complexities on ‘Pan’, without ever-sacrificing his singular industrial groove.

The title track is a tunneling electroid roller layered informed by complex conversations seemingly taking place between man, machine, ghostly human speech and a veritable wind tunnel of noise. Perhaps Welsh’s finest connection yet between the blissful and the ruthless, ‘Pan’ demands submission.

On ‘Sink’, Welsh builds yet another perfectly-executed club weapon around an imaginative spoken-word sample, loosening up the tension of it’s more severe partner with a lucid and rhythmic trail of wide-eyed electro.
