This suite brings together beloved Romanian folk melodies in an arrangement for piano four hands, transforming traditional dance tunes and songs into a concert work that captures both the spirited energy and lyrical beauty of Dobrogea's musical heritage. From lively hora rhythms to contemplative doinas, each movement explores the rich tapestry of Romanian folk music through the intimate dialogue of two pianists at one piano.
Dobrogea, the region between the Danube River and the Black Sea, has a unique multicultural musical tradition influenced by Romanian, Turkish, Tatar, and Bulgarian cultures. Our transcription aims to honor these diverse influences while showcasing the expressive possibilities of the piano duet format.
