A 5-track edit from  improvisation recordings by Feferonja and Telesoniek Atelier of "Stochastic Arp" (1973) for Arp2500 by Frank L. McCarty who passed away last september 2021.
The composition patch was published in the great book of Allen Strange: Electronic music; systems, techniques and controls 2nd ed. 1983.

At FAQ-LAB jan 7th 2017 Oscar Peters and Senne de Jong used the whole analog studio (and some special devices by Senne) as a living music machine during the day. 
They worked three days in the studio to develop their ideas and sounds for this performance.

three stages: electronic sound synthesis and two subsequent improvisations by Ben Verbaan & Marcel Neelen recorded on two seperate tape recorders.
Then Verbaan & Neelen each 'played' the A807 tape recorders, and this improvisation was live mixed and processed by filters during this recording by HK.

Tape Impro

An aggressive percussive pattern. Created by combining FM synthesis with Noise, and controlling it with the sequencer and the envelope generators. Add some reverb and play with the filters a bit, and voila!

ARP 2500

A melodic pattern on two ARP 2600’s. Created by inverting the keyboard’s signal to one of the ARPs. One ARP produces the more bass-like pluck sound, while the other ARP plays a higher detuned synth part.

ARP 2600 1

A soundscape like pattern on two ARP 2600’s. Created by lots of Resonance and Sample & Hold on both filters, while playing on the keyboard, and messing with the filter frequencies.

ARP 2600 2

A very complex, scream-like sound. Created by modulating the amplitude of a sine wave, with another sine wave, while modulating the amplitude of that sine wave, with another sine wave. Get it? This goes through the bit booster and Lock-in Amplifier. As well as some filters, lots of reverb and a ring modulator.

Bit Booster

An almost whale-like sound, created by syncing two oscillators to each other, while messing with the frequencies, linked to the joystick of the EMS Putney. This together with lots of reverb and filters, will get you a perfect whale.

EMS Putney 1

A sort of angry sound, with this sequence of overtones, created by syncing one oscillator to the other and linking the frequency to the joystick of the EMS Putney, together with lots of reverb and filters.

EMS Putney 2

A simple beat, using the HP function- and word generators in Studio 1. Created by sending two rhythmic patterns through filters, tape delays, (spring)reverb and a ring modulator.

HP Word Generators

A simple beat, made with the 20 step pin matrix sequencer and the drum modules in studio 2. Holding the reset button on the sequencer creates the sort of fill you hear in the loop.

Matrix Sequencer

A very angry growling sequence. Made by using the sequencer of the PPG to create this weird rhythmic pattern. While slowly turning down the clock oscillator, the filter (with high resonance) and the pitch.

A calm, but somewhat dark soundscape. Created by patching a few sine waves through the analogue filters, and playing with them. This creates the clicking noise you can hear. Also playing with the ring modulator, which creates the bass tone, and adding some tape delay and reverb, gives you this dark soundscape.

Sine Waves 1

A more rhythmic soundscape. Created by patching a few sine waves through the ring modulator, while also feeding a rhythmic pattern from the word generators through it. Just add some reverb and play with the faders, and there you go!

Sine Waves 2

A very busy sort of lead synth. Created by lots of Sample & Hold on the filter with high resonance, and a long decay and release, while playing on the completely flat keyboard of the Wasp.
