Born in Sandwich, Kent, on Christmas day 1917, Wingcommander William Conan Wigglesworth became one of the most decorated fighter pilots of WW2. He is believed to have shot down at least 127 German aircraft and, if rumour is to be believed, actually ate 3 members of a German bomber crew after landing his spitfire in a field next to the downed aircraft. Wing Commander Wigglesworth flew sorties over Europe, North Africa, and until he was struck down with a mystery virus, the Far East. He was a close personal friend of Churchills' and was an advisor to the RAF and Government until the late 80's.

Coming from a long line of people obsessed with the sky, Wigglesworth married his childhood sweetheart Constance on April 1st 1953. They were married for a little over a year before Constance sadly passed away after committing suicide. Wigglesworths' life, although successful, has been steeped in misery. His best friend and mentor, fellow flying ace Brigadier Percy Postlethwaite, was killed in a freak accident in which his ejector seat failed and threw the pilot forwards rather than up, leaving him at the mercy of the propeller. As the co-pilot, Wigglesworth was a witness to this and, as he was piloting at the moment they lost control, always blamed himself. Friends and colleagues say he has never recovered emotionally from this, and rumour has it Wigglesworth still keeps the blood-stained handkerchief of his best friend in his pocket at all times.

Since leaving the RAF, Wigglesworth turned his hand to writing, most famously writing the Biggles books under the pseudonym of W.E. Johns, although other novels were not so successful. He also played 667 times as captain and centre back for his beloved Colchester United, right up until 1967 by which time he was 50 years of age. 

In recent years, Wigglesworth, under the guidance of his beloved grandson Wayne (believed to be Dappy from N-dubz) has turned his hand to music, spending his dying days documenting his wartime experiences via the medium of electro/pop/rock. Despite this he is rumoured to be suffering from depression, and is believed to be living in a care home in Yorkshire just 200 meters from the birthplace of his beloved Constance.
