Recorded live New Years Eve at sunrise at a Bush Doof in Western Australia. This was my first time playing outside the US and I had such a blast. Special thanks to everyone who was dancing for providing inspiration and also special thanks to Pav aka "Astral Jester" for hooking me up with the early morning set time. Live at New Years Eve Doof, Australia

Sometimes the roots go deeper than you think, and for up and coming tech house DJ Will Graeme, that’s exactly the case.

“I really started out as a vinyl/music collector before I was a DJ” Graeme says.

It’s Graeme’s’ pure love of music that led him to discover his passion for mixing, playing, and producing. The product of the upbringing of two Dead Heads, Graeme spent his childhood developing an inclination for rhythm and melodies, first learning the drums and then moving onto guitar and forming garage bands by the age of 13. After his first experience with electronic music at age 16 with famous Acid House DJ Julian Liberator, Graeme became enamored with Liberator’s ability to influence and elevate the crowd with his music.

“I knew I wanted to do what he did,” he said.

Graeme began his journey with the same kind of Acid Techno executed by Liberator, moving on from there to become obsessed with the sounds Tribal Techno and then Progressive House. Being raised in the Northern Nevada desert, it was only a matter of time before Graeme would make his way to the Black Rock Desert for Burning Man, the annual celebration of community and art in all forms that takes place every at the end of summer. There, at 19, Graeme found an even deeper fascination and respect for his newly discovered craft, being inspired by deep playa sunrise sets such as The Scum Frog and Sharam of Deep Dish, which opened his eyes to the global reach of electronic music. 

Since those early days, Graeme has gone on to not only discover his place in the electronic music world but also earn a college degree. After a brief hiatus, he picked up after his undergraduate career to refocus on music in 2011, drawing on previous influences and warming up to new ones such as Claude VonStroke, John Digweed, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, and Pig & Dan. With the heavy Burning Man and and nightlife culture in Reno, it wasn’t long before Parsons began playing in local clubs, shifting his vibe again from his early Acid House days to playing a more techno and Progressive House type style. 

He has grown to make a name for himself in the local scene, playing sets from dusk to dawn and opening and sharing decks with many famous artists including Justin Martin, RL Grime, The Scum Frog, Will Clarke, JELO, Billy Kenny, and EOTO.

Graeme now wants to take it a step further, using his deep love and knowledge of music combined with his experience playing for many different crowds to pursue his own producing venture. His 10 years of experience have given him the ability to emulate exactly what he wanted to do at 16: learn how to elevate and influence the crowd through music. For Graeme, what music comes down to is a sense of community and an inspiration from nature.

“I see house music as the evolution of the drum circle,” he says. “The communal vibes of everyone coming together just because of a rhythm or a melody is something that has always been really special to me.” 

Also interested in making music for short films. Musical influences include Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin, Tycho, and Junkie XL.
