I watched a guy on roller skates in the subway station
roll up his overalls and pull out a knife
the irony was that his strength wasn't much
when pitted against bullets and guns

I watched puppy-eyed yuppies dressed to the nines
give me dirty looks cuz I had dirty ideas
I'd been out all night just to watch the sun rise
and the strange part was I traded sleep I lost
for misguided thoughts

pink lights in the city frightening egos to the point of convincing
all the pretty people that they ain't that pretty
black and blue camera lenses; red letters in the center lane
blocking out all the common senses
parading around, a Coney Island carnival town

clapping for gang leaders; only to witness gun violence
cops rollin deep, unable to agree on how to prevent tragedies
only reminder was police sirens
if we woulda been packed, we coulda skipped town in 5 minutes flat
but the best course of action
was to go against the crowds
and attack from the back 
wish we was packed

believing the lie compromised swimming in dollar signs
defining future protest lines
false charges can re-define legacy
can act as a go between, unraveling reality
