This time I wanted to create something sad, but still a bit hopeful.  Usually I have piano for the Accompaniment, but this time I wanted to make both the piano and violin distinctive in their sound and melody.  

It's about a girl waiting for a guy. No matter how long time it takes, she stays faithful and waits for his return.

I’ve been watching a fair amount of Korean dramas lately and I just realized that I am completely in love with their style of music. So I tried making a track similar to the ones that are featured in the dramas. I wanted to keep it as close to their style as possible.

And I got some inspiration from a very talented friend, who wrote a short story about it.
This is by far my most expressive ballad and…the saddest ;_;. I shouldn’t really watch these series, I just keep making even sadder music ;_;

This song is about a man losing the love of his life:

Even though years have passed, he still visits the same fateful place where they first met, where their lives first began to have meaning, where their love started to grow ever stronger, stronger for each day passing by.
Even though she’s gone, his love hasn’t faded one single bit, it just keeps getting stronger.
Even though he knows that she’s gone, he is still hoping:
To see her beautiful smile one more time.
To embrace her soft body one more time.
To look into her starry eyes and utter the simplest word with a decisive heart of: “I love you” one more time.

With a single tear spilling down his right cheek, only seen by the sole reflection of the morning sun, he walks away from that fateful place. But upon walking away from that very place, he knows deep inside with painful certainty that he would never, never ever have the chance to look into her sunset eyes again.

This time I wanted to further embrace the American RNB genre. There are still some influences of Japanese pop in it ~~ 

As it's quite often the case, it’s another love ballad, but the ending of this song is very interesting. It leaves room for your very own interpretation. What does actually happen in the ending sequence of this song? 
“Why does it hurt so much when someone you love is happy with someone else?”

I will be co-composing music for the wuxian turn-based 2D strategy game, Mandate of Heaven, 

Since the game will feature traditional chinese music, I made a concept track for the game. Surprisingly, the theme of the track is... about love...  ..who would have though of that D:<

I drew inspiration from Wuxia themed movies such as "House of the flyng daggers", "Hero", Crouching tiger hidden dragon"

This was supposed to be a concept track for the game "Mandate of Heaven". But it turned out to be wayyy too epic, hollywood-ish and RPG-ish. It gave me some other ideas for future tracks though. Enjoy!

Battle of Gods - Concept

This track is really different from my other tracks. Metal / electronic with some hollywood-touches.

City engulfed in Flames of Despair (Story of the Alien Invasion)

his song is somewhat based on a story a friend told me, about her life.

It’s about a girl running away from pretty much everything in her life.
It’s about a girl trying to find herself in this boundless world.
It’s about a girl living her life to the fullest.

Yet, there was this insecurity
This loneliness
This emptiness

This empty void within herself.
She tried to fill the gap within herself.
But every time she did, the gap would widen.
Widen further
Further
And further.

One day she meets love for the first time. And her life takes a turn.

“Because of you, I was able to change.
Because of you, I was able to grow wings to fly away to my dreams.
Because of you, I was able to feel love for the first time.”

But her feelings couldn’t reach to him.
No matter what she did, her feelings couldn’t reach him.

The feeling of wanting someone you can't have.

The agony

The pain

The frustration

However, the rest of the story is yet untold.
But I believe that she will make her decision soon enough.
Whether it means to let go and move along
Or to stay behind and try your utmost best again.

In life, all stories don’t have happy endings.
But neither, are they all sad.

You can’t fully control the endings, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make a difference.
Making a difference is about attitude.

The attitude of being able to take the decisive step out, without a single second of regret.

Another RNB love ballad. I was so inspired by a story a friend told me, that I just had to make another song.

This song is about a girl left with broken promises.
Broken promises
Small things
Trivial things
Bagatelles
Yet these were the things he promised her.
Promises..
Broken promises

She decided that it couldn’t go on like this.
She would always be let down by him.
She finally decided.

With tears in her colored eyes
With a voice trembling with sadness
With a broken heart
She broke up with him.

Since they lived really far from each other, this was done over the phone.

The next day, the rain was intense.
Far more intense than the previous day.
The rain was pouring down
Splashing on the gutter

She was sitting outside
In the nearby park
All alone

The rain was heavy.
Covering the tears she was shedding.

It was cold
It was wet
It was the rain period in Japan.

Suddenly the rain seemed to stop.
She looked up.

And there he was
Standing right behind of her, with an umbrella covering the rain.
He had taken the first shinkansen train to Tokyo just to meet her.
Despite having work to attend to.

Just to prove to her that he was serious.
Just to prove to her that he loved her.
Just to prove to her that he would never break any promises again.

I’m launching my next project, “Project: Rearrangement”.
Basically, I will be rearranging / re-orchestrating popular video game music / film tracks from scratch.
Depending on the nature of the track, I will try keeping them as close as possible to the original track while adding some of my own musicality.
This project will mostly be for my own musical development coming to arrangement.
 
First out is for you, fans of the Kingdom hearts Series. 
“Lazy Afternoons” from “Kingdom hearts II” by Yoko Shimomura. 

Yoko Shimomura is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. Her music has really influenced my own musical style greatly. Her music can be as fierce as a tempest, but tranquil as a calm summer breeze.
Shimomura, along with Uematsu, are probably the JRPG composers who have influenced me the most.

About the track:
Lazy afternoons is definitely of my favourite tracks from the kingdom hearts game series. Tranquil, mellow, somewhat melancholic.  I kept the track as close as possible to the original track, while adding some William-stuff huehuehue.

I arranged "Dark Impetus" from Kingdom hearts: Birth by sleep for the PSP.

I tried a different approach, more like Motoi Sakuraba style when it came to percussion. The overall structure remains the same with minor changes. 

The violin remains as the main melody with changes made to the harmony. The instrumentation was also changed.

Final Fantasy IV - Battle 1 - (Project: Rearrangement)

A korean drama inspired track, based on a true story friends told me about their life ~



It was a lovely summer morning in July.  
If it wasn’t for the occasional chilly breezes wafting from the nearby lake, it would have been perfect.
Their final day together.
The final hours before her flight.
Her flight back home.
However, it wasn’t all bad.
It was still warm.
Warmer than the previous day.
And even warmer than the day before the previous day.

The dawn was still and empty.
The chirping of the birds was sonorous in the stillness of the dawn.
The grass of the green field was completely covered by the morning dew as far as one could see; now shining in the dim sunlight of the dawn and swaying softly to the swift breezes. 
The sun hadn’t yet fully risen over the boundless horizon when she put her head gently on his shoulders.
The scent of her black hair was sweet and windblown; as it slowly swayed back and forth to the bit of wind. 
He could feel the gentle warmth of her breath bouncing off his neck while her teary eyes reflected the dim sunlight.
He knew that it was almost time.
She knew that it was almost time.
Almost time for their farewell
And her departure.

Even though it had been close to 3 months, it felt like no time had passed them by.
It felt like it was yesterday she hastily arrived in Stockholm, a cold and rainy Sunday morning not so long ago.

She still remembers herself passing through the halls of the southern gate of the airport, hurrying to the main entrance.

She still remembers herself filled to the brim with excitement and happiness, as she entered the main lobby.

She still remembers herself being unable to keep her tears from falling down from her cheeks,  upon seeing him in the crowded waiting room.

He smiled.

She smiled.

And they embraced each other.

Now, 3 months later at the very same place, they are bidding farewell.
With their arms tightly around each other, they realize that the distance only made their heart grow fonder.

And fonder.

“When will we meet again?” She asks in a trembling voice.
“Soon enough” He replies with a smile.

As the sun shines through the grand halls of the airport and lights up the velvet summer sky, he kisses her gently on her lips and sends her away with a smile.

As she slowly passes through the boarding gates,
With tears in her starry eyes, 
She looks back and utters the words ..
The most simple words, yet the most powerful: 
 사랑해요  

As the teardrop falls to the ground, the doors to the gate closes.

The plane hastily takes off 
Only to leave a small trail of white smoke
On the clear velvet summer sky

I wanted to try making something epic while maintaining the chinese style.  So it's basically chinese epic music

I have been playing piano since I was 13, mostly classical music. My style encompasses a wide selection of musical styles ranging anything from Baroque to Thrash metal. 
Though, I would say that my music is heavily influenced by japanese pop music. I played a lot of jRNG in my childhood which molded my musical style immensely.
