A friend of mine wrote a haunting song with a beautiful melody.  When my son was an infant I'd whistle that melody to him to get him to sleep.  It evolved in my head and eventually became this song.

We used to have a superhero living in our house named “El Squirrel.”

We used to have many conversations during family dinner about El Squirrel’s super powers.  El Squirrel believed that his superpower was that he could never lose a fight (kind of like One Punch Man).  El Squirrel ranked his power at galactic level (think Thor).   Several of us saw El Squirrel more as a scrappy street level superhero (think Spiderman) with delusions of grandeur.  
This combined with the El Squirrel moniker made us imagine El Squirrel to be a Don Quixote type character.  Think “The Tick” without the nigh invulnerability to back it up.

El Squirrel is no longer.  But we’ve immortalized him in this song.
