This year at Burning Man we were gifted an incredible opportunity by our friend The Festival Guy to perform a secret set at Camp Ego Trip as Daft Punk - complete with helmets and all! We had 45mins to put our spin on things and somehow managed to keep it a total secret this entire time. Easily one of the coolest experiences we've had after 3 years at the Burn and being DP fans for as long as we can remember. Big love to our funk brotha GRiZ for rocking live Sax with us at the very end. Enjoy :)

Red Bull Music presents: Hollerboard Redux

The Hollerboard was a message board frequented by DJs in the mid-2000s, and named after Diplo & Low Budget's notorious Hollertronix party. It became a home for various curious DJs during the rise of music blogs, which were used for discovery: of new music, of lesser-known regional styles (Baltimore club, jersey club, bailey funk, hyphy etc), of forgotten classics... Serato had just recently become available, so tons of DJs were converting their music library to digital and exchanging files with friends. Mashups were popular. The term EDM did not exist yet. We were all hip-hop DJs, but we were a bit bored with popular hip-hop. So we would go find other types of tracks and mesh them into our sets with a hip-hop feel. It was an era of huge creativity in DJing. 

When I was asked to play at this Hollerboard Redux party, I wanted to re-capture the spirit of the DJ sets of that era, but I didn't just want to play a throwback set. I also wanted to throw in current songs that could fit in the same spirit. Listen to how it went down...
