Darween is part of the collective Automatic Writing in Paris together with Jacan & Guillermo Jamas which in turn are the representation of emerging artists in the Parisian scene. 

One could say that my relationship with them started as merely professional but it is surely deeper than that. Having facilitated bookings to their events caught my attention as, like me, they too have a great diversity in their musical taste, they go from Nicolas Lutz to Ion Ludwig to Akufen, an identity which is totally in line with ours at Toi Toi. 

With that said, it is with pleasure that we offer our platform and welcome Darween to present us with this amazing set.

"I did the mix especially for Toi Toi and wanted it to embody many styles of legendary aspects of our electronic club-culture whilst still rocking the boat a little.
I am your toy.

Magical timing too, two hours after I finished this mix, I thought to myself: "perhaps to play Tony halfway in this mix is a nice idea"....but then an hour later Isis texts me the legend came to pass, so this coincidence makes even more sense."

My dearest San Proper! 

My close friendship and musical connection with San Proper goes back many many years. 
San is someone that is an avid reader of books in the most varied of subjects, especially music history, therefore words, poetry and writing in general are very powerful tools in this artist's personality. With that said, I can't go without writing about him from a personal perspective, as it is also in line with the design of this mix series. 

Too many amazing memories to list but here are some:  

Maybe around 2010 when he was scheduled to play live at fabric and the airline lost his luggage. It was late and I was trying to help source the gear that was missing, he messages and goes: rather than live on uncertainty I am going to work the live with what I have. It was a very limited set up, I remember walking in to Room 1 at the start of his live set then reading on the stage desk: 'FUCK YOU LUFTHANSA!'
THIS is Dr. Proper. Even with a such a limited set up he absolutely rocked this room in the best way possible. 

Other remarkable memories is that San always joined afterparties in my loft in London and he always carries a field recorder on him. Outside my house in Dalston with me and the adorable Masomenos couple, Adrian and Joan, and on the way to Kristina Records San was filed recording the sounds of the cars in Kingsland Road, hence the now widely known 'Auto Sea' track out in 2013, also part of his Animal album. 

San Proper branches the realms of artistry beyond borders, it includes being a musician, producer, dj, record and books collector, a performer, an entertainer,  an enigmatic character with a heart of gold even though the animal persona attempts to hide that, hehe.

Toi Toi Mix Series 29 by San Proper

Time has come for the last podcast of 2020 which comes from one of the hottest names in the Romanian scene: Vlad Arapasu. With many releases on top-notch labels such as Priku's Atipic, Subtil, Serialism, EASTENDERZ, and Unic to name a few, the Bucharest talent worked his way up by providing a peculiar melodic-oriented style, always sustained by unwavering trust in gloomy sub-basslines, intricated grooves, and twisted synths. A trademark sound that he's been able to convey into his label KONTENT, which hosted young promises of the rominimal panorama such as Macarie and Leanca, proving Vlad's ability to give the right exposure to other fellow-talented producers. Hoping that this mix will set you in the right mood, we wish you happy holidays and we hope to see you all on the dancefloor very soon.
