Bio:
Love Handle is American producer, remixer, and DJ of melodic house and techno, Jason Hecht. It was in the early nineties that Jason noticed some of his fellow skateboarder friends mixing records on turntables, as well as attending New York’s earliest rave parties. Fascinated, Jason was soon hooked on acid house and techno and became an enthusiastic supporter of the city’s flourishing electronic music culture. However, the repeated nights of constant raving took its toll, so Jason eventually decided to take a break and slow down a bit . However, he still wanted to be involved in the electronic music scene, even if not as an active party-goer. This inspired Jason to get behind the decks himself, spinning mainly breakbeat and house Music. Some years later, he was introduced to audio production. He gained a basic understanding of music production, but did not fully commit to learning the process at that time. After more than a decade of DJing in New York’s house and techno music scene, Jason found himself in need of an inspiration re-injection. This unexpectedly came from a move to Asheville, North Carolina more than a decade ago. Jason was soon mingling with local artists, musicians, and DJs and caught the bug once again. Reinvigorated, he took to the decks and reemerged with a new focus on production work. Jason has been honing his production techniques and developing his musical sound and style ever since, leading to his recent development of Love Handle.
His first release under the Love Handle moniker will be out this year on Luis Armando’s Soak music. It consists of three deep, melodic techno and melodic house tracks that showcase Jason’s new musical direction. There are also some potential remixes in the works, and Jason has been collaborating with Will McGlone (Tulipa Recordings, Emotional Content Recording) on a project they plan to release this year.
All Jason’s future efforts will be an attempt to develop mature, forward thinking electronic music. Jason is very excited about his new journey as Love Handle, and he hopes to deepen his relationship with music, therefore, deepening his relationship with himself.
