There are two common themes in classic literature and philosophy: love and redemption. 

Love is something every heart hopes for. Romeo and Juliet died for it. The abduction of Helen of Troy launched 1,000 ships and started the Trojan War. Love has been found under the most challenging of circumstances and gives people hope when all hope is lost. Love is patient and kind; it keeps no records of wrongs. Love never fails. 

Redemption is an extension of love. When the prodigal son returned, his father ran to greet him. Nelson Mandela forgave his captors with a smile. In Buddhism, redemption is inherent in the discipline of giving up attachments to desires. Redemption was for Nietzsche not a deliverance from sin, but a total affirmation of life, with all its pain, suffering and absurdity. 

Many people go through life motivated by fear, anger and spite. What if we instead guided ourselves by love, forgiveness and redemption?
