Live Session Teaser

This is a cover of Loro by Pinback. I started the instrumental track last summer before I went to university and I recorded the vocals recently in the studios that we have on campus. 

The instrumental track consists of downloaded drum samples, 3 bass tracks and 4-5 guitar tracks each playing harmonies of either the riff or the chord progression. The bass and guitars were directly input to my sound card (the guitar used the output of a Line 6 Spider IV 15 as a preamp).

The multiple layers of vocals were recorded using an AKG C414. For the effect that I achieved, I drew inspiration from The Story So Far's cover of Loro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRCEK2x6bSA). The close up vocals were actually just one take which I duplicated and separately panned hard right and left. I then nudged one take forwards by about 30ms to make them seem like two independent takes. For the far away vocals, I just decreased their volume and added extra reverb to make it seem as if they are further away in the mix.
