Already with the first LUX remix package (SK272, released Feb, 5th) Paskal & Urban Absolutes together with Sonar Kollektiv assembled the cutting edge of the current German club culture:
From Manuel Tur, Trickski over Sevensoul & Bender and Henry L & Ingo Sänger to Sello and Oliver Marquardt some of the hottest players in the game between Munich and Berlin handed in works which are by now default luggage of any upright DJ.

But also the second LUX remix suitcase packs a punch and is – be assured – jam-packed with potential club monsters of all the nights to come. Starting off things is this time not a German but the English man Jimpster. Having founded the deephouse empire Freerange Records this DJ and producer of outstanding merit knows exactly how to trim club music in order to cause frenzy on almost every dancefloor on this planet. His remix of “Bits Of Me” is taking the route towards Berlin School techno sure enough and gains pace, especially on the dub version.

The second track, “Hold Your Head Up”, remixed no more than four times (on the digital release), features the soul-soothing voice of Sonar Kollektiv act Arnold Kasar, who is working on his new solo album(!). Taking these vocal parts to account in particular, the remix by Dortmund based Larse embeds them into a sophisticated arrangement. Which could be shelved somewhere between smooth deep house and the contemporary interpretation of Boogie, which Larse is firmly campaigning for for a while now.
Berlin based Max Heese aka Langeberg (Drumpoet Community, Dessous Recordings etc.) attends to the matter in a total different way by pumping up the song with adrenaline and a hearty dash of testosterone. In over eight minutes you can witness the genesis of a danceable power bar. The 23-years old Kai von Glasow from Berlin is responsible for the probably most neoteristic remix in this series. His interpretation sees the encounter of hypermodern dub aesthetics and bass music how it should sound in 2014.

Last but not least and – as well as the remix by Kai von Glasow – only available on the digital release you get the version by Nils Penner. Having released already on Freerange Records and Wazi Wazi Music, the DJ and producer living in Munich impresses with a ludicrous drum and percussion programming while getting almost cosmic with the interweaving synth pads.

Five, or six remixes (if you count the dub version by Jimpster), which show again strikingly what is and will be the score in the best clubs worldwide in the next few months.

Copy Paste Soul drops a fresh EP via his 2 Swords imprint this October, entitled ‘The Push’ and
backed with a remix from PMR’s No Artificial Colours.

2014 has been yet another exciting year for rising producer Copy Paste Soul, with the re-launch of his 2
Swords imprint which recently featured a remix from Laurent Garnier, new material surfacing on
Audiojack’s Gruuv label, and a remix of heavy-hitting D&B act High Contrast, Copy Paste Soul’s presence
continues to rise. 

Here see him push on with some more original content for his 2 Swords label, which in
recent months has picked up support from the likes of Oliver $, DJ Sneak, Friend Within and Gorgon City.

Kicking things off is the original mix of title cut ‘The Push’, seeing Copy Paste Soul employ his signature
bass-heavy, spellbinding style. Taking the lead are the climbing arpeggio synth lines, bubbling delayed
tones and chuggy bass stabs, while the ever-blooming dynamism of the drum programming keeps things
in an ever-enticing state throughout the compositions six-minute duration.

Following we see MadTech Records / PMR artists No Artificial Colours step up on remix duties. The pair
add their signature shuffled swing to the rhythmic aspects of the interpretation, while bringing the melodic
elements down to a more reduced state with dreamy atmospherics and tension building strings
meandering around the bumpy bass groove.

Rounding off the package is a second original from Copy Paste Soul entitled ‘Before’, veering back to the
old school, all-encompassing house style 2 Swords does so well. Copy Paste Soul utilizes failsafe house
tropes such as bright chord stabs, raw 909 rhythms and stuttering organ licks, alongside modern bleeps
and mind-bending effects programming to create the classic-meets-contemporary sound he’s become
known and loved for in recent years.

«There Was A Day» détient une ame groovy et aerienne, un titre enivrant et percutant qui sent l’été, oùles synthés résonnent au milieu de percussions minimalistes sur des lignes de basses toutes en rondeur, parsemées de nappes spatiales, avec cette voix féminine dominante ajoutant une indéniable touche mélancolique au morceau. Il réconcilie la ballade et le club, la détente et la fougue, et son refrain aux allures de «tube» finit par persister agréablement dans nos oreilles.

Sovgner ouvre la marche des trois remixes qui composent ce maxi en nous régalant d’entrée avec son style patient et rebondissant à souhait, sur un tempo échauffé de cymbales alléchantes, sans oublier ses mystiques transitions qui révèlent une chute puissante et incisive.
Puis, avec Attari qui se charge de remodeler l’originale façon Electro-Tech avec une redoutable précision, on pénètre dans une atmosphère club aux heures tardives.

La version plus House et profonde de Korgbrain nous fait rêver tout en nous emmenant dans nos pensées les plus enfouies…

« There Was A Day » has a groovy and aerial soul. The female voice adding an undeniable touch of melancholy, this is especially a thrilling and strong song which smells like summer days. With this title, Lecomte de Brégeot is reconciling the ballade and the club, the relaxation and the enthusiasm ; the chorus sounding like one of a hit pleasantly remains in our ears.

Regarding the remixes, Sovnger is pleasing us with his good production level and minimal touch, it reminds us of a Crosstown Rebels release.
Then, Attar! is restructuring the original with his own and effective Deep House vision. KorgBrain goes more Techno, making us feeling dreamy.

To marvellously end this EP, « Boxon Twist » is a good surprise, a real Techno-Electro demonstration or else a kind wink to the Boxon label.

Will Saul has been at the cutting edge of electronic music for nearly 20 years now. He has released well over 150 records across his two labels - Aus Music & Simple Records - from the influential likes of Joy Orbison, Carl Craig, Pearson Sound, Leon Vynehall and Actress, as well as EPs that helped to break the careers of talents like Bicep, Dusky, Midland and George FitzGerald. This visceral A&R ability has seen him become head of A&R at !K7, responsible for all artist signings and in charge of curating the hallowed DJ Kicks series. Unearthing new and exciting artists and music is Will's lifeblood and something he has been doing every day for as long as he can remember. Will started working in music aged 19 - work experience during university led to a full time role as A&R with Sony Music. He left Sony to set up his first label Simple whilst becoming part of the team that founded the legendary Phonica Records in London.
As an artist in his own right his music and remixes have been critically acclaimed and seen him featured on the cover of DJ magazine and helm the Essential mix for Radio 1. Will has been trusted to remix a diverse range of incredible artists from Little Dragon to Kelis via Pearson Sound and Fink and has released many singles and EPs (on labels such as Kompakt and !K7 as well his own) as well as two full length artist albums - the last of which was his CLOSE project - which saw him tour a live audio visual show (with a drummer) which debuted in room 2 of Fabric.

Will is an experienced DJ and has held residencies at some of the best clubs in the world (The End in London, Studio 80 in Amsterdam and a label residency at Fabric to name a few) and plays/played (some are now closed) regularly at the likes of Panoramabar, Robert Jonson, Trouw, Yellow and Labyrinth Festival. Will has contributed entries to two of the most respected commercially released mix series out there in DJ Kicks and Balance - both of which made it into Resident Advisors best 20 compilations of the year.
