Chapter VI – “Gauntlet @ Universe 7”


The Rebirth Gone Wrong


When the War Protocol activated, the reborn universes didn’t all form cleanly.

Of the five that returned, Universe 7 was the most unstable, physics glitching between old and new, gravity arguing with itself, and light refusing to pick a direction.


The Harrowguard called it The Broken Canvas, a universe still loading, unfinished, stuck between creation and collapse.


No one wanted to enter it.

But scanners detected something impossible:

a Creator signal still alive inside the new code.


The order was absolute:

Enter Universe 7. Capture or destroy the signal.

No one leaves until it’s done.

This became Mission GAUNTLET.


Through the Fracture Gate


Barely two dozen ships crossed the fracture gate at Axis Void.

Travel felt like falling through a dream that wouldn’t load.

Some ships duplicated. Others arrived inverted. Crews aged years in minutes or spoke backwards.


Only seven ships stabilized on the other side.

The rest were erased mid jump.


Commander Aryn Sol took command, young, furious, and broken by the Collapse.

For him, Gauntlet wasn’t duty. It was punishment.


The World That Fights Back


They landed on a world that remembered war.

Mountains shaped like skulls.

Oceans frozen mid wave.

Ruins looping the same second forever.


Echoes of the crew appeared digital afterimages reliving past actions, as if the world was studying them.


The signal pulsed beneath the crust, beating in sync with their hearts:


thud. thud. thud. thud.


Each step distorted reality.

Whispers bled through the ripples not understandable, but disturbingly human.


The Gauntlet


Universe 7 wasn’t a world it was a test environment.

The Creators left a failsafe: a simulation judging whether new life could handle the power to create.


The survivors were the subjects.

The universe reacted to them:


• Doubt fractured the sky

• Violence increased gravity

• Panic accelerated time


Gauntlet wasn’t meant to kill them,

it was meant to see if they’d kill each other.


They did.

Alliances collapsed into paranoia.

Some worshiped the glitches as divine messages.

Others went feral, claiming they could hear themselves dying in the future.


Even the Harrowguard Anthem twisted into madness, looping as a war drum that wouldn’t end:


“Here they come (HERE WE GO!)

Universe united (READY TO FIGHT!)…”


The tempo kept rising.

They were trapped in an infinite chorus.


The Trial of the Mirror


Aryn Sol and his comms officer, Lyra Ten, reached the core.

Suspended above a pit of light was a Creator Seed, a mirrored sphere reflecting every war humanity had ever fought.


A voice crackled through static:


“You fought to be free from creation,

but all you ever created was war.”


Lyra begged to shut it down.

Aryn refused.


The sphere spoke again, in his own voice:


“If you erase us, you erase yourself.”


He fired.


The blast triggered a gravitational shock that folded the planet into itself.

The Seed didn’t die, it copied itself, and its data infected the remaining ships.


Exit & Echo


What few vessels escaped Universe 7 were shattered and incoherent.

The recordings they carried were never released publicly but one truth spread:


In the final seconds before collapse,

the Creator Seed began singing the Harrowlight Anthem back at them.


The Creators were learning the rhythm.


From that day on, every broadcast across the surviving universes carried faint feedback, a second voice, echoing from somewhere inside the void.


Gauntlet proved one truth:

The Creators weren’t gone.

They were listening.

And worse,

they were changing.
