In June 2019, Drake teased the album via Instagram, where the caption read: "Album mode".[2] Drake officially announced his sixth studio album just hours before the release of Dark Lane Demo Tapes, scheduled for release in the summer of 2020.[3] In March, during an Instagram live session with OVO Mark, he confirmed to fans that the final version of the leaked song, "Not Around", would be featured on his upcoming album.[4] On July 29, longtime engineer Noel Cadastre revealed that the album is "90% done".[5] On August 14, Drake announced the title of the album
