Blue Moon Summer Mix 2013

Jay's an old school friend of mine and after checking out what he was up to musically I thought it would be dope to remix one of his tunes into a DJ friendly dub-house track. He was kind enough to allow me to do just that here.
"Most High" is on Jay's 'Intelligent Design' LP and features one of Philly's favorite and most versatile musicians, Chuck Treece. For this remix I figured keep it dubby and bubbling(of course), accentuate some of the atmospherics from the original track and strip the vocals down to a few essential phrases from both Jay and Chuck. I also added a new baseline and a couple of synth stabs/lines.
Fun project, I'm quite pleased on the outcome and look forward to playing this in my DJ sets. Maybe we can do something with it to get it out to the massive, we'll see... I'm also very honored that I was allowed the opportunity to transform it into another style- hope to do it again in the future!

Beard-O-Bees is the bass music side project of JESSE MILLER, part of the very much in demand electronic/jam band LOTUS. You probably saw them at your favorite festival over the past couple of years...I have been fortunate enough to get to know Jesse and the crew of Lotus a little bit over the years, even doing opening DJ duties for one of their shows at the World Cafe Live a few Thanksgivings ago... '07 I think?
Jesse dropped off the parts for one of his Beard-O-Bees tracks called "Tech Arts" and this is what I came up with - a bigger room track with an old school west coast house vibe... a little different than what I would usually play now, but i really like how it came out and I thank Jesse for the opportunity to play with some quality stems.
