This is the story of a man who graduated community college, packed up his things, and is about to move out of his parent's home in the suburbs. He's landed a new apartment in the big city, as well as a new job interview on move-in day. With all his personal items boxed up in his van, his clothes on hangers, and his trusty penguin plushie riding shotgun for good luck, he starts his car up and drives out the neighborhood. But halfway there, the car starts to run out of juice. The man pulls to the side of the road, stops the car, and checks his watch. Only twenty minutes until the interview. With no time to spare, he calls a taxi service, and a voice on the phone assures him he can get to his location in roughly five minutes. Ten minutes pass until the man finally hears back from the taxi service. The voice on the phone tells him he is just around the block, and that he can't get any closer to the man due to traffic. Stupefied by his misfortune, the man immediately leaps up to race across the sidewalk, across a crosswalk, and across a road - though he only makes it halfway before he is hit by a truck. The truck driver screeches his vehicle to a halt and calls 911 immediately, and within moments doctors are hauling the man up, driving him to the hospital, and wheeling him up an elevator to the nearest emergency room. Only semi conscious, the man hallucinates an elevator operator with glowing eyes, metal skin, and a red hat. The operator lifts a single finger to his mouth, and the man then blacks out completely...
