Texas-born singer/songwriter Christopher Wright released his new single “Collin
County Jail” today. Produced by legendary singer/songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard, the
guitar-scorched country rocker was inspired by Wright’s personal experience within the
penal system and the positive life-changing decisions he made to get him where he is
today. In addition to the single, Wright also shared a compelling new video directed by
613 Media. Click here to watch and share.
Recorded at The Zone in Dripping Springs, TX, Wright enlisted a grab bag of Texas
talent to play on the new song including Pat Manske (drums); Tobin Dale (bass/guitar)
and Lucas Hubbard (mandolin/guitar).
Of the new track, Wright says “I pretty much wrote this song when I was in the Collin
County Jail about seven years ago.” I made a few poor decisions and there were some
charges I needed to go sit and think about. The judge was kind enough to give me 90
days to marinate on whether or not this was going to be the life for me going forward. I
had a number of people that were in there that I knew, and I immediately realized, that I
had been making so many bad decisions that I actually had friends in the penal system.
It was obviously time for a change… or else. Somewhere along the way I realized, this
was not me or even close to who I wanted to be.  It was time to turn my will over to a
power way bigger than me and get out of my own way.”
