A Foolish Consistency (remastered)

This is a piece that uses the field-recording samples of the Ringing Rocks of Montana collected by Richard Devine. The Ringing Rocks are a unique geological formation that features rocks that ring musically, when tapped with a hammer.

In the description notes, he provides an interesting account of origin of the Ringing Rocks. He has graciously provided the samples that he collected to those interested in sound design and composition. 

This is one of my many takes on what can be done with a collection of ringing rocks. The samples are organized, semi-randomly sequenced, and processed using various Eurorack modules for the composition.

This site is dedicated to the works of avant-garde composer Mic Winburn. He employs a combination of synthetic and natural sounds to create images and reactions, much the way visual artists use oil, clay, and dirt, he does with electron manipulation. Many of the synthetic sounds are a combination of digital contraptions of the composer's own invention, in addition to analog configurations of ARP 2600 and modular synthesis machines. Natural sounds are collected and processed using a variety of analog and digital devices.
