Mali meets India on this joyous rework from Hamza Rahimtula's 'Banjara Series Mali' compilation on his own Wind Horse Records.  Madou Kouyate is son of Malian legend Bassekou, and his mellifluous tones glide sweetly over filtered electric piano chords, funked-up bass and deft balafon motifs in Rahimtula's rework. A great track from a great compilation.

With an increasing repertoire of productions that has led him to remixing and collaborating with internationally acclaimed DJs such as Roger Sanchez and Vanilla Ace. Venky makes his DDC debut with "Clairvoyance", a quintessential club track with a classic piano house feel and a thumping groove. ON AIR 004 (OCT) - Underground Music Thailand [UMT.radio]

Wind Horse Records is back with a groovy, acid-drenched EP from Pete Dirty Feet titled “Vitamin Drift” for the second release of this year. The 3-tracker is conceptualized, composed, mixed and mastered by Pete who has been exploring many facets of electronic music since the mid 2000s. The first track is a collaboration between Pete and his older brother gingembre who after a year of studio experimentation, decided to include their most interesting creation in this release, giving its name to the EP.

“Vitamin Drift”: a bouncy, acid-laden tune that gets you hooked right from the time you hit the play button. A nice, chubby bassline greets your ears, interspersed by simple yet eloquent percussions that elevate the vibe. As the track builds, a fleeting pad accompanied by the electric keyboard stabs fill up the spaces nicely and get you swaying right away. This build-up serves as the precursor for the gorgeous acid-lead that follows suit, enamoring you with its beautifully composed, squelchy rhythm. The track powers through with these elements with aplomb. You might find this one difficult to remove from your playlist or record bag! 

Next up on the EP is the deliciously lush track titled “Comets” which is funky and a straight-up classic from the get-go with its bass-guitar lead that’s enough to pique your attention. Towards its first breakdown the track is powered by a wicked bassline and some fantastic retro acid-lines that are enough to transport you to different galaxies of musicality and groove. Simple, yet fluid, “Comets” stays true to its name by delivering an excellent yet evocative experience on any dancefloor you choose. 

To round things up, “Maybe someday”; the 3rd and final track from Pete Dirty Feet can best be described as a feast of acid, served over a spread of oriental melodies and awesome atmospherics that can genuinely leave you swooning over the majesty of its construction. The track kicks things off with a busy kick-drum & percussive intro that prepares the listener for what unleashes soon after. Stabs of heavenly pads and intelligently arranged rhythms give way to a riotous acid lead that’s enough to send many aficionados of the 303-inspired sound into a tizzy they'll never forget. We'll just let the music do the talking on this one!  

The EP artwork is an original oil painting done by Pete. Stay tuned for more cosmic scenes coming along with his future releases.

Wind Horse records welcomes one of India’s finest electronic music producers - Calm Chor, onto our label for the very first time. This enormously gifted veteran lands a four track EP called ‘So much to Say’ that is a reflection of his more spiritual, ethereal and melodic interests. Distinctly deeper and visibly more emotive than his darker sounds, Calm Chor teams up Rohit Bhusan aka Internal Eye and with Indian Songwriter/VJ and singer Ramona Arena. The Original overlays Ramona’s uplifting and mysterious vocals over this excellent progressive composition. 

The track begins with alluring atmospheres that could immediately transport you into his sonic kingdom. Soothing pads, emotive notes and simple but surreal textures add to the tracks vibe and feel. The bassline is punchy, groovy and catchy when coupled with a simple yet effective drums and percussions. With stringed elements and stabs of Ramona’s amazing voice, the original track is sure going to find its way onto most people’s download must haves. The EP also welcomes Mumbai based DJ/Producer Farhan Rehman and Wind Horse’s very duo of Hamza and Stalvart John on remix duties. 

First up, Farhan gives us his rendition of Calm Chor’s original and it’s distinctly housey. From the groovy, bouncy basslines to mellow, organic soundscapes his remix demonstrates his dance music sensibilities. The track intelligently weaves together asimilar vocal samples with ease and precision and delivers a peak time- deep house bomb that’s definitely going to get fee tapping. 

Hamza’s interpretation of ‘So much to say’ is more stripped down, intimate and dubby with a unmistakable Detroit house music soul. With minimal fuss, the track transcends it’s many forms to don that of a dub-techno and house groovey that can get any club’s dance floors up and at it in an instant! 

The EP closes out with some proper 303 action as Stalvart John give the tune, a ‘full acid treatment’ with a hint of nostalgia and adds his traditional disco vibe and influence. A reprogrammed, gnarly bassline greets echoed out vocals and as much acid as you can take. You can be sure of some proper dancefloor moments with this banger.

As World Beats Mature, it is truly and indelibly becoming an international phenomenon. Born out of warehouses in Chicago and New York, then cultivated in the clubs of London and Europe, house music culture has spread around the world with a determined influence. Thus the time has come for an important World Beats music scene to spring out of India, led by a striking young talent named Hamza and his exceptional Wind Horse Records label.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first house music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. He dominated the label's artist roster so far with impressive releases that seamlessly meld house music rhythms, traditional instrumentation from Indian and other world musics, and admirably high production standards.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first World Beats music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. Many of Wind Horse's releases feature Hamza collaborating with important talent such as Harmonic Choir founder David Hykes, well known Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, and Yungchen Lhamo, a Tibetan singer who has recorded for Peter Gabriel's Real World imprint. In fact, collaboration and the merging of tradition with contemporary dance music can be seen as Wind Horse's mission, and yields exciting and unique results. 

Wind Horse's future includes increased interaction with musicians from 'the west,' as the label includes renowned remixers and artists from the electronic music world. Wind Horse's next step includes remixers such as Tom Middleton, Michael Mayer, Ricky Ryan, and Kosmas Epsilon tackling its exotic sound. The label also will continue to showcase the music of its region's up-and-coming producers, including new discoveries Kartech, from New Delhi.

The label's primary focus remains to expose the pool of talent from India and 'the east' to global dance music citizens. Wind Horse has been largely successful thus far, earning accolades from fans like Riva Starr, Dubfire, Peter Kruder, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed, Lauren Garnier, and Sander Klienenberg. Wind Horse's reach looks to continue to expand as Hamza and Vipul Angirish increasingly play gigs and festivals around the world. Wind Horse is also forming a live 'sound system' act which includes Hamza, Indian percussionist Latif Khan, Latin percussionist Manu Idhra, and a promising mix of dancers, visual artists, and globally based guest musicians. Wind Horse will also be exposing its sound to the world through the WHR Podcast Series, featuring two mixes each month from Wind Horse DJs and friends of the label.

The Wind Horse style and concept has worldwide reach, blasting its international vibe out of club systems and home stereos in nearby as well as far-flung cities. With its ambitious plans the label is sure to increase its profile, delighting house music heads, world music aficionados, and lovers of exotic electronic music with an abundance of top notch releases.
