Funny how with memories you can turn
the volume down, and dim dim dark
until "I could be looking at anything". But
as good at hiding things 
as the mind can be, the body 
can speak to you in secret 
while you're asleep, or reveal things
just by touching. So with other bodies
it is smart to keep the conversations brief.

I saw my friend leave through the basement door,

half spilled on the dance floor, 
there was mud on here shoes

Flu Kisses (rough demo)

On the way from Nashville back to the grey mitten state
a smiley waitress says "Take some for the journey. You know, cars get swallowed all the time in Kentucky."

Someone's stealing kittens in Tennessee, I see
on the news strange trending - kids in Japan
licking each other's eyeballs. Sounds intimate. 
"Would you do that, if I liked it?
Would you do that for me
if I was into it?"

Cars get swallowed here on the side of the road,
nowhere, in Kentucky. The cows moo as they rush
over in silly cross-eyed herds to watch us pee by the fences.
The car's hood was shaking, I thought our faces
might melt. So we rushed out and ran for our lives
with just a Norse book and some cash. 

But we can smoke inside here, drinking coffee. 
Three days until we can leave
this truck stop while the van was in the shop, nowhere,
in Kentucky.

Think we might get swallowed,
