Let the wind howl, let your mind roam free!
Sometimes it is a huge struggle to write music. I have struggled for the past year, lacking inspiration in life and the surroundings I live in. A version of this has been sitting on my computer for many months but there was something about it that seemed forced. Today I found it again and, in what is at the moment a very rare occurrence, I had the drive and the inspiration to adapt it and make it work. It isn't perfect by any means, but it is finally a sign of that musical feeling returning. I have missed it, but now I look forward to hearing what else my mind can conjure. The doldrums are gone.

Doldrum

A fun little piece I composed last Sunday whilst out in the garden looking at my chilli plants. Partly, hence the name. I also gave it another name, but that's reserved for someone.

The Greenhouse Chilli Waltz

A German variation of a traditional Ukrainian tune re-arranged for violin, guitar, piano, bass guitar, and some assorted percussion. Also known as Schöne Minka in German variations.

I end up writing the first few bars of pieces of music before not knowing where to go with it and putting the piece to one side. This is one of those pieces - I came across it again last week and added on the extra 6 or so minutes to the original 20 seconds.
It's quite a dramatic but sad piece I suppose, although perhaps over-dramatising(?)what a cold front really is though...

Recorded in 2016 in North Wales in the early morning in early summer.

Birdsong - Seaside Town

Originally titled 'Drought' to mark the end of a prolonged period lacking any creative drive, it soon changed to 'Coast' as it was beginning to conjour up images and memories from a coastal walk I did earlier in the year, with large waves in a blue-green sea crashing onto cliffs.
