An unofficial audio journey through Walter van Beirendonck's exhibition ‘Dream the World Awake' at RMIT Design Hub, July to October 2013.

This is an imaginary journey into the world of Walter van Beirendonck - an audio lullaby, a montage of fragmented images, words and sounds that Walter might or might not dream of at night. 

This is about a boy being taken through the woods, where he encounters wild characters and rituals, shadowy memories and nightmarish premonitions. Longing for love and home, the boy hears unsettling songs that speak to him. All of this appears to be somewhat familiar and alluding to his past … or is it his future? Who is this boy?

Winnie Ha is a doctoral candidate in fashion at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. She studies fashion in the context of body-dress relation and phenomenology of dress and dressing. She generates and presents fashion as raw experiences and constructed scenarios. Through her research she is developing a ‘non-garment-based’ fashion practice that spans across sound installation, choreographed performances, as well as reading and listening events. Currently she is developing a textual practice that she calls ‘writing fashion,’ drawing together subjective criticism, fiction and embodied writing, to experiment with how fashion is enacted through words.
