Winter-Light bids a warm welcome to the artist Talst, who presents us with his debut album ‘Celestial Displacement’.

’Talst’ is the project of Rob Meldrum, a sound artist currently based in Chicago. The music can best be described as blackened, dark ambient with space, industrial overtones, etched with tinges of horror. The pieces are skillfully composed and arranged, creating both moments of intensity and a space for quiet reflection.

The perfect soundtrack for a science-fiction horror film, yet to be made.

Celestial Displacement

'Animic Atmospheres' - Onasander, Ashtoreth & Gydja

This collaborative work is inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, who shared his insights on the connection between death, spirit and the universe in seven talks in Berlin from January to March 1918.

These talks are compiled in the book “Earthly Death and Cosmic Life” and reveal the profound link between dying, the soul and the cosmos.

Vibrant, expansive drones, finely worked electronic aesthetics, with well placed traditional instruments and vocals, all deftly combined to induce otherworldly focus.

Animic Atmospheres

Winter-Light presents the debut album by Belgian artist Bart Piette's new project, 'Brotherhood Of Sleep'.

'Devotional Hymns To A Brilliant Flaming Sun' is constructed of five Ritual Dark Ambient pieces employing powerful percussive elements and deep drones, traditional instruments, chants and invocations.

Skilfully crafted tracks, draw the listener to a point of deep focus and guide them on to the next path of the journey, culminating in an auditory gaze into infinity.

'Energy directed through the opened mouths of the singing skulls,
facilitated by mantra and multiplied several times by vocalisations
through the mouths of other singing skulls,
that are placed on stupas throughout the Temple.'

Bart also records music as 'Dead Man's Hill' and has releases on Zazen Sounds, Black Mara and Noctivagant labels.

“Between Ecstasy and Death” is a hauntingly immersive collaboration, born from a year-long creative journey between two dark ambient icons—Phragments and New Risen Throne. This concept album explores ecstasy and death as two extreme conditions of human existence, closely examining the dynamic relationship between these two opposites.

Each artist contributed two tracks—one representing Ecstasy, the other Death—before exchanging them to reinterpret and reshape each other’s work. The result is a captivating fusion of individual visions, blending seamlessly into a singular, immersive experience.

Rooted in dark ambient soundscapes, the album masterfully blends ominous drones, classical orchestration and analogue synths to craft an atmospheric odyssey through the depths of the human psyche. A deeply evocative exploration of the human condition, it invites listeners to confront the intensity of life’s most profound extremes.

Between Ecstasy And Death

We are very excited to announce the debut album 'Drømmenes Spejl' from Danish artist 'Væv' is appearing on our Winter-Light label.

Væv, which means "web" in Danish, explores the interconnectedness in our lives, perhaps chief among them the connection between our day to day reality and our spiritual development. These threads were woven before we entered this world; they are our world.

'Drømmenes Spejl' is a rich contrast of dark ambience, sombre melodies, dark jazz, and minimalistic drones.

'Drømmenes Spejl was produced during a very turbulent time in my life. It reflects my personal journey through a depression which culminated in my family falling apart. But crisis is the mother of change. From the ashes of the World Tree, new seeds can grow. I found comfort in these pieces, and it is my hope that they may bring comfort to other suffering souls who find them.

I would like to dedicate this album to the gods and people who stood by me in its making. - Væv 2021'

Ajna & Onasander join forces to create a dark and brooding soundtrack to one of the most highly attested witches in Latin Literature; Canidia.

Canidia is considered Rome's first witch and had perpetrated acts of grave desecration, kidnapping, murder, black magic, and poisoning to name but a few. She is most known for being mentioned in the poems of Horace, where she has a prominent role of a demon-like figure. There is much mystery and speculation as to whether Canidia may be a myth or an actual historical figure.

These 7 tracks evoke the heinous deeds of Canidia the Witch, propelling the listener into her ancient world of nightmarish deeds and mystery.

Canidia

Invoking Underworld Divinities

Ajna returns to Winter-Light with his first solo album on our label 'The Enigma Of Sirius', having previously collaborated with Onasander on their 'Canidia' release.

Ancient tribes and civilisations such as The Dogon, The Egyptians and the Sumerians to name a few, claim to have had contact with extraterrestrials from the Sirius star system (Sirius A, B & C) anywhere from 5,000-10,000 years ago.

These ancient civilisations obtained advanced and extensive knowledge on the occult, physics, astronomy. mathematics etc without any modern technology, this knowledge was mostly likely given to them by extraterrestrials. The Dogon themselves claim that they have a secret portal that directly connects them to the Sirius star system where they also describe that it is the place where many departed souls dwell.

These 10 tracks evoke the mystery of how humans have contacted and/or have been contacted by otherworldly entities since the dawn of time.

On Ten Four: Centred Horizons, we invited Robin to create 4 ambient pieces, each one ten minutes in length.

The resulting tracks are a mix of long form drones and processed sounds blended with Robin's instruments and percussive elements. Whilst each piece stands alone in it's own right, a common thread and feel that is ever present in each track, draws them together as a whole, setting the listener adrift .....

This third collaborative album "Goês" between these two great artists, is focused upon funeral lament and chthonic sorcery.

In the Greek mysteries, the funeral lament turned into a magical act and the 'daimons', the spirits of the dead, were the ideal mediators between the living and the dead. They were manipulated with evil intentions and forced to act against will.

With the release of "Goês", the witchcraft trilogy from Kloob & Onasander comes to an end.

A new studio double-album from Chris F; the mastermind behind 'Ajna'.

In Astronomy, Algol is known as the bright multiple star in the constellation of Perseus, also known as 'The Demon Star' or 'The Ghoul'.

However, Algol has an entirely different meaning in Occult terms. According to Kenneth Grant's "Beyond the Mauve Zone", Algol is considered a form of altered consciousness between terrestrial and extraterrestrial dimensions, a dimension that is beyond the Mauve Zone, an access to unknown alien realms deep within the universe.

We welcome Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe (Penumbral Aethyr) to our label for the first time, as well as the return of Peter Verwimp (Ashtoreth), who is no stranger to releasing with Winter-Light. These two well known Belgian artists of the dark ambient scene present us with new immersive ritual works.

For this collaborative album, Ashtoreth and Penumbral Aethyr were inspired by the link between a number of mythological creatures from several ancient Cultures and their emotional representations.

Like Boreas, the rough and cruel God of Wind, Cold and Darkness; Nephthys, Goddess of Birth and the Underworld; Ptah, the original creator God in ancient Enneadic Cosmogony and Naiad, the Water Elemental of the Earth. As such she can summon and control all water in her immediate environment and manifest herself from that source.

Water is linked to the emotions and therefore they chose Naiad as the fitting moniker for their album. These recordings are steeped in deeply felt emotions and meditations on both personal and general reflections about the state of the world and our place within it.

The Belgian duo composed these pieces using only hardware, electro-acoustics, voices and field recordings. No audio plug-ins were used for the recording of 'Naiad'.

Ethnea Nekrōn is the new project of Maurizio Landini (Onasander / Les Anges Morts) and Daniel Ferreira (Kloob); both of whom are no strangers to our Winter-Light label.

'Exo-Metempsychosis' is inspired by an idea of reincarnation that does not happen in one's own world but in other worlds of other galaxies. Rebirth as unknown entities that exist in areas far away from the Earth inhabited by human beings.

ABBILDUNG's 10th years anniversary CD entitled 'All Demons Are Horned' puts together probably the best work so far from the Romanian sound artist. Spanning over 3 years in the making, the release takes you to a transcendental journey through finely crafted, dark ambient soundscapes, mystic drones with a touch of oriental inspired music."

This is an incredibly interesting release from ABBILDUNG, utilising a broad, and sometimes brave, use of sounds, field recordings and voices within this genre. This is a release that is pushing at the boundaries of ambient and taking it so much further. The tracks are exquisitely crafted pieces that at times are tinged with fusions of an oriental journey, propelling you through harsh atmospheric re-entry or simply leaving the listener alone to drift in absolute solitude. The opening track drags you in from the very first moments, taking you on a dark journey and eventually pulling you through to the other side. Whether that outcome is one of light or dark only the listener can decide.

The album was mastered in May 2015 @ Cruel Sound Works. All field recordings, dark ambience, voices, music and sound sculpting by Casian Stefan.

Winter-Light is a record label and online store based in Noord-Holland, The Netherlands, specialising in deep ambient, experimental and drone soundscapes.

Our goal is to release new and interesting music within these genres without imposing limitations on the possibilities. Exploring new areas, pushing at known boundaries, or working within current structures can always produce beautiful and interesting results.

Working in conjunction with Midnight Sun Studio, we create visual pieces to accompany our releases. The creation of motion graphics, put to out there and interesting electronic music; that is adding another dimension altogether.
