winterchaser, feeling as though she has lost sight of her original quest to find herself, begins spiralling in trying to find anything from her past that could guide her. this is not productive until a force takes her back to observe summer again, leading to a self-actualisation powerful enough to freeze over a lake in the summer timeline she remains connected to.

Atlas is my series of mixtapes of my favourite songs I've been working on that don't fit into other projects. I've released three albums since Atlas, Vol. 3, but until now, it remained my personal favourite work of mine. It will always hold a special place in my heart, but now, I think Atlas, Vol. 4 takes the top spot.

the concept behind this album was that i made each
song on it on its own night, from start to finish.
i didn't go back the next day to make changes. the
tired ear tends to naturally create a much softer and 
relaxing experience. :)

the album's theme is of self-discovery and its
story is told through a series of memories throughout

    "winterchaser is the new alias of electronic blacksmith Verv, who gained notoriety in the underground SoundCloud hyper-dub-trap scene off of smash hits such as the lethal “Death of a God” or highly intelligent “Weeble Wobble”. When the artist transitioned between aliases, their sound became much softer, with a focus on melodics and ambience. Between the high-energy slangers from the Verv era, the emotional anthems of winterchaser, and the playful experiences of “Keepsake” (a duo comprised of winterchaser and frequent collaborator holden cathcart fka. yubi), there is no doubt that they have a toe lingering in every facet of the musical landscape. 
      winterchaser's musical roots go all the way back to childhood, but the first track officially released by the artist would come in late 2016, with the release of “Evil Somestar”. Winter soon began building a portfolio, releasing the debut EP “Fuji Ghasts”. While amateurish, the project still highlights many of the core qualities which characterized releases-to-come. Then in April of 2018, their first studio album “Classy” was released to critical acclaim, heralded as “groundbreaking” and “what the heck??? definately your best drop!” 
    With the EP “100% Alternating Drops”, winterchaser's sound shifted to a darker, heavier, and experimental place, and would mark a maturation in sound for the artist. These ideas would later be fully fleshed out in their sophmore record, “Abyss” which featured their heaviest production yet, inlaid with melodic bridges and outros. After a brief break between album cycles, winterchaser would emerge with the final album in the “Verv” era, Adventures in the Milky Way. The project featured a much more melodic tone which aptly felt like a culmination of the sounds which had built up in their career this far.
    Throughout these album release cycles, winter also consistently released a series of mixtapes titled “Atlas”. The projects were intentionally much more melodic, featuring elements of synthwave, future bass, etc. These mixtapes would set the stage for winterchaser's new sound as they left behind the Verv alias. Shortly following the release of Adventures in the Milky Way, winterchaser announced their debut album under the alias, next morning. The album was met with warm reception, however the over-saturation of material led the album to fall under the radar, with frequent collaborator LASTRA reportedly “not even streaming the album once, not ever”.
    Following the album release, winterchaser set about creating more music, however the majority of this library remained unreleased for a long time. From December 2020 until December 2021, there were virtually no winterchaser releases, except for the singles “poplar” and “RAVELAND”. In December, winterchaser would finally return with the long awaited album “reflection”, a multimedia project which consisted of both an album and 50-minute film. The album, which was mostly comprised of IDs hailing from early 2021, was received extremely well, and out-streamed all of winterchasers other work (due in part to one super-fan). When asked about the experience of creating the project, the artist plainly responded, “I don’t want to do that again.”
      Following the album, winterchaser quickly released the fourth installment in “Atlas” series, less than a month after reflection. The work featured remixes of other MERKERS-affiliated songs, such as find beauty by yubi and Pyrosome Colony by LASTRA." -holden cathcart
