So here's the next installment of Flowers of the Past. Still a WIP, and its not done. By far...

Everything still wrong with this:
There's still no proper intro or outro
The verses are lacking
The development after the first solo still feels empty
As does the part after the second solo

Aside from the obvious parts I added in since last time, i also changed the bass drum to something a little more airy, as I didn't like the simpler feel of the other one. I found it was hard to get to cut through without going overboard and messing up the balance.

I've also re-recorded the vocals, so I'd like to think they're a little better and more stable now.

Anyways, any feedback and advice is appreciated as always. But thanks for listening either way. :D

Flowers Of The Past WIP4

So lately I've been trying to make a Korean CVVC reclist for UTAU and these are the results so far. Its still missing a lot of recordings, so I had to jerry rig some of the recordings together/substitute recordings. I still don't have any w/y recordings, so they're replaced with their non-iotized/non-velarized counterparts. eg, 랴/rya->라/ra, 봐/bwa->바/ba. Also still no j/ch recordings, so those are replaced with t and/or s. the VB is on one picth (F#3) so a lot of the lower notes sound funky. I'm using TIPS because it seems to reduce volume drops and stutters between notes, and I have no flags. Modulation is set to 20% through most of it.

Basically with this I'm just trying to see if the recording style words or not, where I have redundancies in the reclist, etc. So let me know what you think of it so far, where the reclist could be improved, where my pronunciation could be improved, etc.

I'm sick so i can't record, so I did this instead? For all intents and purposes, this cover is finished, but the VB very much is not.

Also, i remembered that flags are a thing.

Oh, also, forgot to mention last time that the harmonies are actually me.

When I'm Gone (Arpasing 7)

Sorry guys, still recovering from sickness so i haven't been able to record (or re-record) anything yet :/ But here's some proof I'm still alive. Neither When I'm Gone nor Circles did much with the lower recordings, so here's a sample with his lower range.

I think I'm finally getting a hang of editing consonants with Arpasing. Also, I've determined that the derpiness comes from the middle pitch (F#3) which was the first one I recorded. You can hear it in the prechorus ("if loving you was my mistake...") So i might re-record a bunch of stuff on that pitch. idk. We'll see.

Pushing Daisies (Arpasing 8)

Got bored again, really wanna make a Korean VB, but then for craps and giggles I did this instead.

Tbh, it turned out a lot better than I expected. Really the only thing its glaringly missing is ㄹ/r.

Me VS My UTAU Round 2: As If It's Your Last Chorus

So I've made a new Korean reclist that's way better organized than the last one, and I managed to record a full pitch for it. If all goes as planned, the reclist should provide full [- V], [V], [V -], [- CV], [CV], [VC], and [VC -], and limited [CC] for nasals & l.

I do plan on finishing this VB, but as of right now its only a monopitch VB on F#3

Zombie (New KR Reclist Test)

Sorry about the lack of updates and posts guys. i've been oto'ing like a madman trying to get this VB in a useable state. But for now, i hope you all like this little clip from kokoronashi.

Since all my other samples have been either made for this VB or retuned by me for it and had the mod turned up, I figured I'd post something that wasn't retuned and had the mod left at 0. I did edit the phonemes and timing, though.

Also, you get to hear more of his high range, which hasn't been featured much so far. Like, 75% of this clip uses his highest recording (D4).

Also, I got fed up with the lack of [dx] in arpasing, so I manually added it myself. (heard here in "not everything" and "letting") If anyone's interested in the strings I used to record it, let me know, if there's enough interest i'll upload it.

It only took 5 years, but he's finally being released. Any of you who also follow me on SoundCloud may have seen samples of this VB when I first made it, but now it finally has a design and so he's ready for the world! :D

(That also means these recordings are literally 5 years old so yeah.)

Also I changed the spelling of his name from KAI to KYE, but its still pronounced and written カイ in Japanese.

Some technical info on the bank: its a 5 pitch CV bank recorded on Bb2, D3, F#3, Bb3, and D4. Romaji filenames with hiragana aliases. It has extra ty, dy, ng, and v recordings (though I apparently forgot some on some pitches. so oops). There are 4 isolated nasals: n (used before n, t, d, z, j), m (before m, b, p), ng (before k, g) and ん (at the end of lines and everywhere else).

Flags used here: g-5 Mt10 (I didn't wanna low gen him, but otherwise his CV and Arpasing banks don't match (the Arpasing line is flagless))

I really recommend moresampler, but he sounds good with fresamp as well.

I literally just can't mix anymore. Everything I've mixed lately has sounded terrible. I sorta just gave up on this one.

Accidentally In Love Comparison

Recorded a soft VB earlier tonight. My voice was just not cooperating, plus it got late and I didn't wanna disturb the neighbors, sooo here it is.

In keeping with the whole poison theme, I'm thinking about calling this VB Antidote.

Some of the recordings have that same derpy too-open/nasaly quality the other VCV VB bank i recorded has, but at least its a little more appropriate here. *shrugs*
