It was a stormy day today with snow lowering over the mountains. I was daydreaming about being in thick pine forests, cosy in a thick coat, sitting amongst the pine needles. I took this feeling back home and designed some sounds around it. This is my daydream.

Live hardware jam weekend challenge ☠️ 
Spring was the prompt, but it's full summer here in NZ. Wasn't going to make the challenge as I was away camping, but sitting on a warm rock next to the lake after the sun had dipped below the trees, I recorded the waves, which was the seed of this track. I still struggle making anything 'happy', but this one is more about Hope ✌️

Spring Waves

Petite Victory Collective  competition remix of Rome In Reverse track 'Here It's All Over'. 

Reading Rome In Reverse's ideas behind the track I thought it would be nice to play with the stems and create something a bit more lofi and brooding. The vocals reminded me somehow of Iceland, so I wandered down a Múm and Sigur Ros overdriven, resonant soundscape. 
I wanted the listener to be transported to a dark but welcoming natural landscape of jagged mountain tops and deep lakes, all reverberating with sounds. I really enjoyed using the stems from the original, I hope you enjoy ✌️

Live Hardware Jams weekend challenge ☠️ 

After discovering Richard Skelton this week, there was only one way forward 😵‍💫 No apologies for the audio clipping! Complete soundscape and ambient jam this week, reverb and delay were on special offer 🤣

Challenge: Video inspiration. I love seeing Slow-motion videos of ink in Water. I love how the shapes evolve, lava-lamp-esque.
Your challenge is to be inspired by the mixing of colours and patterns found in colourful ink drop videos.
Don’t feel you need to limit your music to be also in slow motion, any tempo is good, but try and incorporate the sensation of the overlapping colours, and the evolving effect of the interactions of the liquid-colours mixing and swirling around in your music.

A postcard from my personal memories, growing up in the 1980's to a backdrop of social unrest, fear of imminent nuclear war, and endless summers.

This track has been more inspired by listening to Jon Hopkins, certainly for the beats. This shares my absolute love for serious distortion...

Winterkeep is the artist name of Mat Tyrrell, currently living in Queenstown, New Zealand. 
His music aims to submerse listeners in unsettlingly foreign, yet familiar liminal spaces, where instruments are transformed into textures. Produced using a mix of traditional instruments, sampling, looping and audio manipulation to create a hypnotic and dark, brooding style.
