Already firmly established as one of Europe’s leading taste-maker drum & bass labels, Blackout follow Telekinesis’ rip-roaring ‘Fight Club’ EP with Edge – a collaborative five tracker from German duo Neonlight & fellow German producer Wintermute.

Set for release on March 29th, ‘Edge’ adopts a diverse approach to the genre by moving away from the neurofunk style Blackout have become synonymous with, to craft something altogether harder, darker and edgier. Lead track ‘Guinea Pig’ is all broken beat, sharp synths and raging percussion, whilst ‘Influx’ works more conventional drum & bass rhythm, amidst a darker, almost gothic backdrop. Neonlight – having already released twice via Blackout – and Wintermute also extend their collaborative imagination on the lighter ‘Posthuman’ with faded, bleepy news-bulletin interludes serving as just one example of how intricate and well-balanced their sound design is right across the EP.

Given the vibrancy and darker, club-ready feel of ‘Edge’, Neonlight & Wintermute thus feel like natural choices to continue Blackout’s fast-building legacy and further cement themselves as some of Europe’s go-to drum & bass producers.

Wintermute has been a friend of Boundless Beatz for a long period. We are very happy to announce that our 2nd release will feature a 5 track EP by himself.
Just a few months ago Wintermute released with Neonlight the Edge EP on Blackout, the label run by Black Sun Empire. This EP was absolutely outstanding and we can see, hear and feel on the Convergence EP that he continues to work on his production skills and his broad spectrum of musical output.

Florian Förster – aka Wintermute – has made his name in the Drum & Bass scene over the past 10 years with his unique take on the genre. Fusing seemingly disparate styles, his tracks explore junctures of techno- and soul-influenced drum and bass, meandering between high-tech funk and ambient explorations. 
Having released on some of the most respected labels in the scene, such as Black Sun Empire’s Blackout Music, Cause4Concern Recordings, Vegas/Bad Company UK’s Bad Taste Recordings, Boundless Beatz and the demoscene-related NoSYS Productions, he made his name synonymous with deep atmospheric, yet gritty dancefloor tracks. 
After gaining huge support from the likes of Noisia, Ed Rush & Optical and Black Sun Empire, following the release of the “Edge” EP with long-time collaborators Neonlight on Blackout Music, he continued to push his sound further into new sonic territories. Wintermute’s DJ sets are famous for being diverse and progressive, connecting the dots between sub-genres effort
