d.phylleia is a DJ from South London (UK).

She’s inspired by all things gritty, distorted and bass-driven.

She’s part of the collective and record label Dock34, a group that her friends had started together at University. Dock34's focus is on exploring electronic music and A/V technology. The collective has plans to release their first E.P. in the next year and host upcoming parties in London and Bristol (tba!).

Her bi-monthly show on NARR Radio in Leeds, explores forms of electronic music such as electro, industrial, darkwave, experimental, post-punk, EBM and rhythmic noise.

As a compulsive crate digger she’s currently playing all vinyl, a rule which determines the music she plays as much as how she goes about it.

When she’s not spinning or digging, she’s studying for an MSc in Human Computer Interaction!

For Wire Mix 015 Kessie has put together a 1hour mix showcasing a range of moods she is currently interested in, playing material from CARLOS, Ian Pooley, MONOPHONIK, Simo Cell and more. Expect 4x4, bass, ebm and grime. Originally from London but currently based in Leeds Kessie is well known for her gritty, trippy and sometimes sleazy style. 

Kessie is currently one of the residents at Wire and has supported various artists over the past years, most recently VTSS, Freakenstein and Object Blue. She is also a resident for the local club night Love Muscle and runs NARR Radio & Flesh In Tension.

You all know our love for Uruguay's artists go back a long way when it started with Nicolas Lutz as our resident and artist from our very beginnings to hosting Dj Koolt at our party and now leading to a whole new generation of artists including Z@p and now Fabricio who we happily host on our mix series ahead of him coming to Europe and playing for us at the infamous The Lion & Lamb on the 29th September w/ Voigtmann.

We also take the opportunity to open his availability for gigs in Europe in October and November.

After moving from Naples to Leeds in 2016 to study for a PHD in architecture, Marinella Contestabile quickly built a place for herself in the UK electronic music scene. Within her first week, she bumped into Slowcook whom she has since teamed up with as part of the Equaliser collective to provide "monthly, free-to-access DJ workshops for women, non-binary and trans people".

Following several gigs in the north and beyond, she was picked up by Bobby Pleasure to become a resident of his Pleasure Club in London where she has played her slick brand of techno and minimal to dancefloors at fabric and The Lion & Lamb. This summer she will play Houghton Festival for the first time.

This mix represents a distinctly dark turn for Mariiin, full of introspective breakbeats, ice-cold electro and a dash of trance. Ciao! 🇮🇹

Wire Mix 008: Mariiin

Next up on the series is Leeds-based producer and selector @liseneuk aka Marlon Morris. 

Marlon joined the ranks at On Rotation as a resident a couple of years ago, helping them put on incredible parties with the likes of Detroit In Effect, Ex-Terrestrial & Priori, Roza Terenzi, Justin Cudmore and D. Tiffany. His own productions reflect the styles of the party's headliners, touching upon electro while firmly grounded in rolling, intricate,  trance inducing grooves and meaty basslines. His best mate Adam Pits shares this passion for proggy sounds, and together they are Space Cadets, releasing their first record on Seven Hills Records earlier this year.

Not only is a dab-hand on production, Lisene is a fine digger of tunes, regularly plumbing the depths of goa trance, breaks, tech house and more for gems. This mix is testament to those efforts.

The first Wire Mix of 2020 comes from Benny Ill, best known for being one half of seminal production duo Horsepower Productions. Releasing material since 2000, the dynamic of the unit has shifted over the years, yet Benny has remained at the forefront of UK bass culture. 

Ahead of the Ghost X GD4YA show this Friday, Benny kindly put together this flawless Eastern Influences mix for the next instalment of the Wire mix series. Horsepower Productions are joined by a generous lineup of El-B, Sully and Wen.

Chuang Tzu was a philosopher in ancient China, who, one night went to sleep and dreamed that he was a butterfly. He dreamt that he was flying around from flower to flower and while he was dreaming he felt free, blown about by the breeze hither and thither. He was quite sure that he was a butterfly. But when he awoke he realised that he had just been dreaming, and that he was really Chuang Tzu dreaming he was a butterfly. But then Chuang Tzu asked himself the following question: "was I Chuang Tzu dreaming I was a butterfly or am I now really a butterfly dreaming that I am Chuang Tzu?"
