d.phylleia is a DJ from South London (UK).

She’s inspired by all things gritty, distorted and bass-driven.

She’s part of the collective and record label Dock34, a group that her friends had started together at University. Dock34's focus is on exploring electronic music and A/V technology. The collective has plans to release their first E.P. in the next year and host upcoming parties in London and Bristol (tba!).

Her bi-monthly show on NARR Radio in Leeds, explores forms of electronic music such as electro, industrial, darkwave, experimental, post-punk, EBM and rhythmic noise.

As a compulsive crate digger she’s currently playing all vinyl, a rule which determines the music she plays as much as how she goes about it.

When she’s not spinning or digging, she’s studying for an MSc in Human Computer Interaction!

Wire Mix 014: d.phylleia

For Wire Mix 015 Kessie has put together a 1hour mix showcasing a range of moods she is currently interested in, playing material from CARLOS, Ian Pooley, MONOPHONIK, Simo Cell and more. Expect 4x4, bass, ebm and grime. Originally from London but currently based in Leeds Kessie is well known for her gritty, trippy and sometimes sleazy style. 

Kessie is currently one of the residents at Wire and has supported various artists over the past years, most recently VTSS, Freakenstein and Object Blue. She is also a resident for the local club night Love Muscle and runs NARR Radio & Flesh In Tension.

You can catch her closing Love Muscle on the 12th March at Wharf Chambers.

Wire Mix 015: Kessie

Michael Upson, founder of Leeds’ beloved Queer institution Love Muscle, serves up the sixteenth edition of our mix series, entitled “Kind of Life.” Laced with slinky pumpers and sultry thumpers, it exudes Michael’s inimitable energy and style from start to finish.  

“This mix turned out a lot hornier than I expected. It’s just a bit over 2 hours and purely an exploration in house music. It starts gentle and finishes with a celebration of queer love, sex and life. Hopefully something for the gym, the car, the kitchen or the afters.

Next up on the series is Leeds-based producer and selector @liseneuk aka Marlon Morris. 

Marlon joined the ranks at On Rotation as a resident a couple of years ago, helping them put on incredible parties with the likes of Detroit In Effect, Ex-Terrestrial & Priori, Roza Terenzi, Justin Cudmore and D. Tiffany. His own productions reflect the styles of the party's headliners, touching upon electro while firmly grounded in rolling, intricate,  trance inducing grooves and meaty basslines. His best mate Adam Pits shares this passion for proggy sounds, and together they are Space Cadets, releasing their first record on Seven Hills Records earlier this year.

Not only is a dab-hand on production, Lisene is a fine digger of tunes, regularly plumbing the depths of goa trance, breaks, tech house and more for gems. This mix is testament to those efforts.

The first Wire Mix of 2020 comes from Benny Ill, best known for being one half of seminal production duo Horsepower Productions. Releasing material since 2000, the dynamic of the unit has shifted over the years, yet Benny has remained at the forefront of UK bass culture.
