Born Phumulani Thwala on the 11th of October, in Soweto, Johannesburg, the last of 4 kids to a domestic worker and a{late} mechanic factory worker. At the age of 5, the fam moved to Newcastle-KZN and stayed there for most of his life, however it was in high school that he discovered his love for hop-hop after hearing the bone thugs and harmony hit single “paper paper”. According to the rapper, “The song had me selling candy in school just so I can buy every hip-hop album I could find on tape, that is when I realized I’m wired into the culture of hip-hop, hence the alias {WIRES} was born.”  After matriculating, He went on to do a year in college, studying sound engineering at Damelin. Facing financial difficulties in college, he dropped out but maintained friendships and association with other students so he could get access to studio time, recording demos and underground hits, it is there where he was part of a short-lived rap group Apocalypse.
After the group disbanded and group members went on their different paths, Wires opted to also find a “secure job” to pay bills and survive which almost killed his creativity, however, his love for the Game was still burning, and after a long hiatus from rapping, it was through encouragement from mutual friends that he decided to pick up the pen and pad and start writing again.  After realizing he still had the talent, Black Revenue Group (BRG) was established with longtime friend (Day 1) and Manager Muzzie Mvubu, and he quickly dropped the highly acclaimed DAD IM IN JOBURG freestyle with Mr. Riddlez, a fellow rapper and lyrical Monster. A cover version of American rapper THE GAMES 92 BARS, the pair makes you think their work is an original composition. The wordplay and bars on the freestyle are nothing short of amazing. The project was followed quickly by an official mixtape single titled “HOOK MISSING.”
Ladies and Gentlemen, we’d like to reintroduce you to WIRES, a completely different breed of rapper with an interesting element in the game, is working on an official #dadiminjoburg street mixtape dropping early 2017 with word that an official album will be soon to follow. “the game just aint ready for what I’m about to do,” says the ever so confident  rapper. We look forward to these projects with great anticipation.
