We celebrate womensday! This mix was made for the feminist bike & soundride on 8th of march in Vienna to draw attention to our feminist struggles.

Structural inequalities are made even worse by dramatic events such as the current war in Ukraine, Syria and other countries. We claim space and bring attention to the structural inequalities that are affecting women/ FLI*NTA persons and all those people that do not fit the white patriarchal, and heteronormative society.

End of August the network female:pressure presented their new facts counting on female presence in electronic music festivals at Pop-Kultur Festival Berlin. WiseUp cut-up some excerpts on the outcome of the survey.
In October WiseUp made a trip to UH Festival in Budapest, a festival for adventurous music, where Monika Werkstatt played the opening concert of the festival. It was followed next day by a panel-talk moderated by journalist, musician, and curator Lucia Udvardyova of Eastern Daze who talked to Gudrun Gut and her label mates Barbara Morgenstern, Sonae and Danielle De Picciotto about the label anniversary of Monika Enterprise, the current project Monika Werkstatt and existential issues related to music and gender. This is complemented with an interview in which Lucia Udvardyova informs about her label Baba Vanga and her project Eastern Daze.

Today we will dive deep into South East Asias noise and experimental music scenes, but we will also hear a bit about Berlin since our guest – Cedrik Fermont, who is one of the authors of the book Not Your World Music – Noise in South East Asia, is living in Berlin. Not Your World Music was released last fall by the authors independently under creative commons license and the subtitle announces that it is "a book about art, politics, identity, gender and global capitalism".

The book also features a companion compilation which in combination with 2 other compilations of Cedriks label Syrphe, "art of the muses" – an experimental music compilation featuring female composers from far East Asia and "beyond ignorance and borders" which also features Asian noise and electronic music – makes up the soundtrack to this program on NOT YOUR WORLD MUSIC.

wiseup 11/2017 Noise in South-East-Asia

In this Review Wiseup looks at the releases of the past year and plays its selection. Also Wiseup will review 2017 by looking back briefly at the visited festivals of the past year, which have been exactly 12, so I per month at average, starting in January with CTM Berlin and ending in December with the Chaos Communication Congress in Leipzig.

But mostly this review will be about music that has been released in 2017. You will be listening to IOT Records, Below The System Records, Edition Mego, Horo or to early avant-garde music from Latinamerica. Artist include Tricky, Carl Craig, Oneotrix Point Never, Gaika, Still, Hype Williams, Ho99o9, Trizz, Xordox, Gonja Sufi, Laibach, Errorsmith, Fever Ray, Ana Bolena, Unprofessional or The Other Shi.

WiseUp! Radio is the longest running project of Jukebox Utopia. It is a radio series concearned with pop discourses and music ventures; it researches different kinds of knowledge produced in the context of music. 
WiseUp is transmitted monthly @ Radio Orange Vienna, Radio Proton Vorarlberg - Austria or at FSK, Hamburg - Germany where it started more than 20 years ago.
