Jay a.k.a Witchdokta, native of Johannesburg South Africa, has been Dj-ing since the mid 90’s. Originally started out spinning vinyl at the tender age of 14, experimenting with all sorts of genres, he quickly developed a unique, diverse style. His natural ear for rhythm and strong inclination for harmonies meant he soon enjoyed regular bookings playing his signature eclectic, tribal sounds at various private parties, events, festivals and clubs. Vocationally moving into a successful career in the Music Video, Film, and TV industries his musical style was heavily influenced by ethnic rhythms found in the African Kwaito and Asian Dub music scenes. 

Having directed the popular South African music chart show - KTV Playback, he worked closely with the bigger music labels like Sony and Universal promoting music and covering various Artists like Billy Corgan, Lenny Kravitz, Sting and Madonna. Witchdokta has played sets alongside heavy weight techno legends like Carl Cox and regularly entertained industry insiders at private events and Film ‘Wrap’ parties.

Witchdokta held a residency at the legendary G.A.S.S techno night club in Johannesburg for over 2 years, hosting Friday nights at Carfax music/media/art complex in S.A. Later promoting themed nights at the Monroe’s nightclub with a residency in England in the early 2000’s. This led into his involvement in London’s vibrant event culture, spanning venues in both the infamous underground party scene and special club nights in Camden and Brixton. 

Currently based in California, managing Prism Psycrafts, he has continued to be involved with events both as an accomplished dj and innovative deco design artist.
