Ewa Witczak was born in Lodz, Poland in 1989. She began her music education at age of ten. She attended the Stanislaw Monuszko Primary Music School in Lodz, where she learnt the rudiments of cello playing in Mrs Barbara Korpysz’s cello class. She than continued her education at Henryk Wieniawski Secondary School of Music in Lodz, in Mr. Robert Fender’s cello class. She then move to Bydgoszcz, where she studied cello and Baroque cello at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music (FNAM) in Bydgszcz, in Renata Marzec’s cello class and Markus Moellebeck’s Baroque cello class, in the Faculty of Instrumental Music. She graduated from the Academy with degree of Master of Music in instrumental music, in 2012. She is currently doing her doctoral studies of Baroque cello at the FNAM.

Ewa has annually taken part in cello master classes with Professor Tomasz Strahl, Professor Stanislaw Firlej, Professor Andrzej Orkisz, Nicolas Selo, Markus Moellenbeck, Alison McGillivray, Michael Schmidt-Casdorff, Pauline Nobes, Anton Birula, Marek Rzepka and Professor Urszula Bartkiewicz.

She is a scholarship winner of the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education. She is also an Award winner of the Minister of Polish Culture and National Heritage. In 2012 she was awarded with a scholarship from the Marshal of Lodz. She also recived the J & S Pro Bono Poloniae scholarship for gifted students of secondary music schools (2006/2007). As a solist she won an award at the 22 Internatiolnal Young Musician Competition ”Citta di Barletta” in Italy (April 2012), an award at the National Cello and Double Basses Competition in Warsaw (March 2012), the 3rd prize at the International Competition ’’Talents for Europe” in Dolny Kubin, Slovakia (April 2006), the special prize at the 2nd National Competition ’’Duets with Harp” in Cieszyn (November 2007), a special prize at the Kazimierz Wilkomirski International Cello Competition in Poznan (Dezember 2006).

Ewa performs also as a chamber musician with such Baroque ensambles as Laboratoire de la Musiqe, Musica Humana, La Musique Authentique and Intemperata. The greatests achievements of the Laboratoire de la Musique includes the 3rd prze at the 5th Internazionale Concorso di Musica Antica Maurizio Pratola in L'Aquila, Italy; 1st prize at the Baroque Music Competition at the 12th International Bach Festival in Swidnica, Poland (July 2011), the 2nd prize and the audience award at the 11th International Biaggio Marini Competition in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany (August 2010), a series of concerts entitled Alte Musik – Junge Energie, Germany (August 2010), a series of concerts as a part of the Kuyavian – Pomeranian Heritage Protection Programme (2010, 2011, 2012, 2014).
The ensamble together with Ewa perform during many prestigious early music festivals including 12th International Bach Festival in Swidnica, the International Summer Festival „Torun – Music and Architecture”, the 12th Bach Festival in Gliwice, 16th Krzysztof Drzewiecki Festival for Young Organist and Singers, the Torun Music Festival „Quiet Music Academy”, the 1st Bydgoszcz Baroque Music Festiwal.

She also cooperate with Bydgoszcz, Plock and Krakow Philharmonic. She has recorded for the Polish Radio an Television.

She currently is busy giving concerts with the Laboratoire de la Musique, Intemperata and Musica Humana in Poland and abroad. She also teaches in several music schools. Ewa is also interested in yoga, theater and travelling.
