Chad Shanks a.k.a. wiʇE ChalkLate or Chalk, was born and raised in Xenia, OH. He was first introduced to rap music at a young age by his older sister when she got the Slim Shady LP on cassette tape. He would grow up listening to Eminem, Dr. Dre, Outkast, 50 Cent, D12, Tupac, Marilyn Manson and so many more artists of that time. He began, in 5th grade to write short stories and lyrics from his favorite songs so he could find a way to write out his own lyrics when he was able. He began writing his own lyrics at 13 yrs old when he found out his father had cancer. He was filled with so much anger and sadness. It was reflected in his writing for many years to come. When he became a father at 19 yrs old, music became his outlet for many things that had affected him for years. All of his rage, depression, anxiety, and all other repressed feelings he came out in his lyrics. He held off on putting any music out until 2013 when he ordered software for a home recording studio. He put out many songs on YouTube even though  he knew the quality wasn’t great. Leaving his then wife at the age of 23 he spiraled out of control until 2019 when he finally found his footing in life. He’s began the process of rebuilding himself not only in his everyday life but in and through his music. “I hope you all enjoy the music and come along with me on this journey.
