Hospital Records’ newest signing Winslow marks his debut solo release on the south-London imprint with his impeccable ‘Sandalwood Nights’ EP. Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, he’s flying the flag for drum & bass across the pond as a producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, music teacher and tea enthusiast who has quickly affirmed himself as 2021’s ‘one to watch’. With previous releases on Hospital, Soulvent and Goldfat, Winslow’s latest solo release marks the start of an exciting new chapter on his musical journey.

‘Everything & More’ sees the fusion of Winslow’s immaculate production alongside his own vocals, intertwined with the glorious harmonies of Pete Simpson who has previously appeared on Makoto’s recent much-loved anthem ‘Spread Love’, and the London Elektricity classic ‘Impossible To Say’. Inducing pure euphoria with uplifting chord progressions and light-hearted synth flourishes, Winslow’s fresh take on drum & bass is the perfect scene setter for the rest of the release.

EP title-track ‘Sandalwood Nights’ sees Winslow explore his love for the deeper avenues of drum & bass. Eerie synth drones, off-beat bass wobs and a downpitched vocal sample create a dream-inducing atmosphere that transports the listener into a sonic realm of sharp and soulful soundscapes.

The third and final track, ‘Snooze Button Roller’ is another classic embodiment of Winslow’s unique approach to creating music. Mind-bending vocal samples and powerful guitar licks swirl above rolling drumwork and a serious bassline.

Winslow’s healthy selection of releases have garnered support from drum & bass staples like High Contrast, Mitekiss, Nu:Tone, Workforce, and Degs. Aside from music production Winslow also creates content for his popular Youtube channel that delves deeper into his musical technique, thought processes and influences. From playing in orchestras from the age of eight, Winslow’s strong penchant for melodies and rhythm has translated across into his drum & bass career, seeing him bag spots on UKF’s ‘Future Vision’ livestream as well as at Hospitality Weekend In The Woods in Beckenham Place Park this September. As Hospital Records excitedly welcome Winslow to the family, don’t sleep on him. This is only the beginning!

Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

Storming into 2021 with the final instalment of his widely acclaimed ‘Bubblers’ EP series, Whiney’s last four-tracker offloads serious amounts of heat closing the three-part series with a bang. With DJs from all corners of the scene supporting the Bubblers EPs, from Chase & Status to DJ Marky, Keeno to AC13, ‘Bubblers: Part Three’ raises the bar once more as Whiney stamps his sonic identity as a top player within drum & bass. This might be his last Bubblers EP but it’s definitely not the least.

Teaming up with North London-based MC Subten, drum & bass meets grime on ‘Headlines’. The infusion of styles sees two of the UK’s most loved underground genres collide as Subten lays down his impeccable flow over Whiney’s production mastery which brings the sounds of 140 into 174 territory.

‘Freedom Dub’ draws for ambient soundscapes and enchanting vocal samples as it rolls into a deep drum & bass cut fuelled by a signature bubbling bassline and crunch-packed breaks. Smooth amens and gliding mid-ranges keep the track moving as Whiney continues to make his mark on the scene.

Flipping over to side B, dreamlike vocal melodies and luscious chord swells induce a hypnotic state on ‘Mirage’. A nod to Whiney’s old-school jungle influence, raw and rugged breakbeats and addictive 808 throbs pay homage to the classic sounds of the 90s.

‘Yesterday’ incorporates mesmerising synth arpeggios which float above chugging drums, saturated with elements of techno inspiration. Hissing basslines and skippy percussions transform the track into a no holds barred weighty stepper.

With ‘Bubblers: Part Three’ marking the last edition of his trailblazing EP series, this is only the beginning of Whiney’s new chapter. Renowned for creating futuristic and forward-thinking productions, and an impressive back catalogue including two albums ‘Talisman’ and ‘Waystone’ under his belt, it’s no surprise that Whiney’s music receives consistent support from leading radio tastemakers including Rene LaVice, Laurent Garnier and DJ Target.
