Ancient Lullaby - Friday Night Closing Set - Love Jam 2022

This project unites artists from two labels, Chinese based bié Records and Latin America based Shika Shika, separated by very contrasting cultures and thousands of kilometers but united by shared values and a shared musical vision.

Driven by values of creativity, borderless music and fairness for artists, both labels showcase artists that unite electronica with ambient and folk music, purposefully existing outside of the globalized, copy-paste of the mainstream music industry.

A mix of intrigue and mutual respect led to the birth of this compilation, with the two labels teaming up to match together a group of their artists to remix each other. The result is a widely imaginative, fresh and diverse selection of tracks featuring some of the prominent producers such as DaYe, Lim Giong; Hualun, Sun Dawei and Rainsoft from bié records and DJ Raff, Terror:Cactus, Numa Gama, Barrio Lindo and El Búho from Shika Shika.

Coloured Dreams is a wigged-out kind of half-speed two-step, once again deftly marrying ‘60s psychedelia elements with the most contemporary of production techniques, sounds and rhythms, in the way that only Crane can. By no means a chill-out intro, Coloured Dreams is just as full of ambition and ideas as any of the other album tracks, leaving very little room for you to drift off as you run the gauntlet of giant synth stabs, squelching bassline, discordant guitar riffs and fizzing energy.

Lifting the mood again comes HONEY BADGER. Sampling a legendary viral video clip that extols the virtues and badass-ness of the Honey Badger, Crane returns to his playful self in this exhilarating techno ride. 

Honey Badger is a tune worthy of soundtracking anyone’s defining I-never-want-to-go-home moment at Burning Man, or some outdoor party equally as apocalyptic and life affirming. 

Indeed, this track has become something of a theme tune for Mojo Filter’s sets headlining the magic woods stage at Secret Garden Party; the festival’s unique forest venue, which he curates every year.

The Inglorious Honey Badger

Whoa-there!! After bombing the club-scene with the seminal Mighty Boosh and Iggy Pop remixes, Mojo Filter follows-up with this proper-epic, off-kilter techno exploration. Getting the vocal parts for Grace Slick’s timeless ‘White Rabbit’ meant it was always going to be interesting to say the least. Wonderfully, the track is totally immense, fizzing with enough psychoactive dancefloor weirdness to ensure this freaky-deaky anthem goes deep, deep down the rabbit hole in time for Burton’s Wonderland excursion.

With i.D.J recommending the tune with 9/10 and DMC Zzub charting it at #11 it’s seen massive feedback from around the globe including Rob Da Bank (Radio ONE & Bestival), John Kennedy (XFM) Sasha, Nick Warren, Jody Wisternoff (Way Out West) & Jon Carter amongst others. Imagine that?

Sunday Best wonderment, Fear of Theydon’s remix is a stunner too – pulsating, magnetic, low-keys grooves majestically transport the tune into a refined, spacious, back-room disco portal. Go figure. [S.I.C] Label Boss, D.K.S applies his own upfront, driving tech-house production to the mix, giving the vocal a new angle in the clubs. Finally, new fire Anarchy Rice delivers a dirty rave pounder to embarrass your mom with. It is actually pretty [s.i.c] too and has seen support from various top-ranked peddlers of dirt.

The record is deep, complex and timeless. That’s why we’re decided to get this promo out early – so that you can experiment with it before its release in Jan. 

Seriously? We’ve had some real crazy times on this tune and we hope you do too. Take the Red Pill? Take the blue pill? Wotever, take both and run a mile! Wiiiooow-whooo!!

In the Orphic cosmogony, the unaging Khronos produced Aether and Chaos, and made a silvery egg in the divine Aether. 

This produced the god Protogonos, who gave birth to the first generation of gods and is the ultimate creator of the cosmos.
