BBC Radio 1 XTRA Cosmic Wind Down

Best (Branding 😉) Song Ever - a series of mixes curated by the world famous pop phenomenon Charli XCX as a co-commission alongside the BBC Sounds podcast of the same name - meets the craft of the WIZZFX creatives.

Lo-Fi Pop vibes to match Charli’s music but make it original.

The brief? An iconic opener throwing to Charli’s persona and style and a package of sweepers styled with implicit undertones to match the different eras of music included in her curations. Throw in a WIZZFX original composition and bespoke vocal processing, and boom…

For years, Bay has trusted WIZZFX with their station’s sound. Recently, they approached us to update and revitalise their jingle package, all in order to uphold their long-standing legacy as the number one station in Malta.

Comprised of a three note sonic logo, these 12 themes tick all the boxes for modern CHR jingles and perfectly compliment the station's energy.

Bay Jingle Package 2023

BBC Radio 1XTRA has a brand new sound design package from WIZZFX.

The package has been commissioned exclusively for the station to perfectly punctuate the station's branding.

NRK mP3 is constantly pushing the boundary of audio branding with a constant need to maintain momentum, energy and excitement.

To satisfy those needs they came to us to create sweepers with endings built in key to aid in song transitions. We provided 24 options across all 12 notes, with multiple mixouts for maximum use.

BBC RADIO WALES HAS A NEW SOUND FROM WIZZFX

WIZZFX has joined forces with BBC Radio Wales to deliver a new sonic logo and an audio makeover featuring 14 new musical themes (hear just a selection in the montage above).

Sam Parker, Creative Director at WIZZFX: "We’ve looked to propel the new station sound, captivating the Radio Wales core audience of 45-64-year-olds. The WIZZFX team has blended contemporary cool with everlasting elegance, reflecting the station's commanding presence throughout Wales."

The main theme for the package includes a performance from the renowned BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

This was the must listen event of Easter Weekend helping provide music needed escapism during the doldrums of forced isolation during the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020.

We composed one huge festival opening music piece (comprising of over 100 tracks if you’re impressed by that kind of thing), alongside 4 solid musical themes to help key moments into and out of the DJ sets.

Plus, a small suite of Mix ID’s and Sweepers (1, 2, 3) to help keep the moment on air.

KISS Fest

During attachment at the BBC as part of the Station Sound team, the opportunity was given to create branding for BBC Sounds of the 90s.

A total of 13 mini-mashups were created, each with their own flavour and mix of music, jingles, TV show clips and themes, games, and sound effects that resonate with the era.

Sponsor credits equal money. They also equal boring.

The Solution? We’ve created 10, 10 second custom music beds reflective of current pop music production trends — round bass synths, stacked saw’s alongside formant shifting, lush reverbs and subtle melodic treatments. Complete with custom sound design to match.

Each piece contains creative vocal production designed to be combined, mixed, shifted and edited to fit a variety of sponsor credit and show name lengths.

Hits Radio - Sponsorship Music

A complete overhaul of the specialist output on KISS meant an entirely new sound to match. Something more than just a ‘one-size-fits-all-swap-out-the-DJ-names’ package.

Unique. Individual. Massive.

Drum & Bass, Afrobeats, Grime, Hip Hop, Dance and Garage from across the UK and beyond, every show has hand-crafted bespoke production to suit each DJ and their vibez.

From a Top of Hour and two Out of Break to a suite of In to Break ramps, KISS Nights ID's, DJ Name elements, Menu's, and Promos.

When this is the line up, you need A game gear. And we bought a big bag of it for the who’s who of DJ’s from around the world.

KISS Nights

Targeting 35-54 year olds, XS Manchester music focuses on classic anthems, Britpop and the best guitar driven hits of the 00s and today.

A new sonic platform.

All voiced by Gabriella Ashcroft, we worked on capturing the essence of the playlist crafting elements and work parts out of guitar noise, crowd atmospheres, and drum hits all to evoke the energy needed. This work can easily be heard in Breakfast ID’s, In to Breaks, Station ID’s and Weekend ID’s.

Continuing development on this theme, we constructed Out of Breaks (Example 1, Example 2) with key matched music montages to help define and punctuate the playlist.

And we pushed it further.

This package culminated in custom themes featuring a 5 note Sonic Motif (paced to match Gabriella’s reads) for News, Weather and Travel. This motif also forms a part of the Breakfast theme appearing in the Top of Hour and in Promos.

Sponsor credits on a radio station needs to sound just as good as the imaging, because it’s an opportunity to lose listeners. 

That’s where WIZZFX came in.

Partnering with Joe and the Hits Radio team, we created and delivered more sponsor credit music. 10 custom tracks featuring bespoke sound design and vocal post production. With names like Chasing You, Cobalt, Culture, Flavor of the Day, Juice, Lost World, North Feel, Tequila, Toronto, Typhoon.

And just like our previous delivery, each piece contains creative vocal production designed to be combined, mixed, shifted and edited to fit a variety of sponsor credit and show name lengths.
