As Frankie Bones eloquently noted, “the five year run of Plus 8's sub-label Probe sometimes would seem to be putting out better releases than its parent label”. One of those indelible releases was ‘The Arrival’, signed by Casey Tucker under his Variable Frequency Technician moniker. “Cross Section”, the anthem that closed the B-Side of the original 1995 release, is getting now a re-release on Certain Music with two remixes from Fit Siegel and Marc Piñol plus a proper retake from Tucker himself.

It’s hard to tell what’s the most interesting feature of this singular track. Above all is a sharp and defining concoction of what listening to underground techno in the 90s was: warm and blissful chords over a metallic rhythm section, intrincate hi-hats, syrupy synths and a rubber-like bassline —you name it, the track covered it. Tucker’s 2021 remix keeps the vibe pretty much where it originally was, but now building things wider, tremendously three-dimensional and diaphanous. More than a remix, it’s a way to appreciate Tucker’s genuine evolution as an artist over the last three decades.

On the flip side, Fit Siegel signs an acidic and jazzy rendition full of twists and turns: keeping the groove in check while showing an infinite array of layers and melodic ingredients. Marc Piñol does pretty much the opposite while keeping the acid intention, building a ponderous bass-driven track with vocal delays, repetitive percussions and periodic glimpses of Tucker’s exquisite synths.

At the helm of his own mastering sanctuary, Human Mastering Studio, GarcyNoise wears the hat of a producer and mastering engineer. In 2022, he joined the ranks of @MoveOnUpCollective, a Barcelona-based ensemble of House Music Party Makers known for their dedicated approach to cultivating a scene where music and dance take centre stage 💣

W. Jeremy is a NYC based DJ/Producer and is co-owner of the Get Up Recordings music label with such artists on the roster as Honey Dijon, Tedd Patterson, Kim Ann Foxman, Quentin Harris, Discodromo, Brodanse and Vin Sol.  He has produced under the moniker House of Stank with label partner, Christy Love, as well as independently as W. Jeremy.  

Having been a house music aficionado since his teenage years, Jeremy immediately pursued his dream and went to work in the industry right after school.  He got his start as an intern at Elite Music Group where he worked along with some of the industry’s finest, including Issy Sanchez, George Hess and Debra Eriksen.  After a few months, Debra convinced him to come and work with her at the Vicious Muzik and Hot n' Spycy labels.  While promoting the chart-toppers, Angel Moraes's "Welcome to the Factory" and the Shades of Love’s "Keep in Touch (Body to Body)" remake, he formed a friendship with Alan Anderson at Movin’ Records in East Orange, NJ.  Alan presented an offer he could not refuse, the opportunity to work for the legendary Tony Humphries and help launch the Yellorange label.  Six months later, Jeremy moved to the west coast to re-emerge as a dj.  While in San Francisco, he became a resident dj at the world-famous Endup for the Saturday morning party, Otherwhirled.  He spent the next several years gigging at clubs all over the Bay Area including, Liquid, Club Six, 111 Minna, 1015 Folsom and 177 Townsend. 

Upon moving back to NYC in the early 2000’s he began djing for Amy Sacco at Lot 161, Centro-Fly and Baktun and later acquired a residency for the next five years at the underground house club, Mr. Black.  He later began to produce and in 2009 and his first two records were released on the Godfather of Acid and creator of the Wild Pitch sound, DJ Pierre’s label, Afro Acid Digital.  He also has releases on Dust Traxx Chicago, Boom Boom Recordings and his own imprint.  He has remixed for JD Samson and MEN, The 2 Bears, The Cucarachas (Tom Stephan), Larry Tee, N’dea Davenport and Angel Moreas on labels such as Southern Fried Recordings, Ultra Records, Trax Chicago and Kinetika Records.  He has held residencies at Marquee NYC, XL Nightclub and has played such festivals as the P.S. 1 Summer Warm-Up Series and the LifeBall in Vienna.  He has dj’d along such legends as Derrick Carter, DJ Pierre, Phuture, Green Velvet, Horse Meat Disco and Grandmaster Flash.  He currently holds residencies at the Standard NYC for Susanne Bartsch’s On Top party and the Soho house NYC.
