When I was young, I always thought that the song ""shackles" by Mary & Mary was about slavery. somewhere I have never been able to let go of this, perhaps because you can interpret the text in different ways.

On July 1, the Netherlands celebrates "Keti koti" or "Chains broken". On this day, the Dutch should celebrate the originally Surinamese holiday of the abolition of slavery. On this day we also commemorate our history and reflect on the present. How are things going now? Have things really changed? or do you still see the wounds of history in the present.
