Wiki joined Dylan Farley on the WKCR American Department's premier underground hip-hop/rap show, Notes From Underground, for an exclusive radio interview!

Wiki is a New York City artist who has had his feet in the game for a while. Wiki has worked with some of the very best in the rap world such as Earl Sweatshirt and Ghostface Killah, and he himself has been regarded as a poetic lyricist. Wiki has both though-provoking and laughter-inducing bars that are a joy to listen to, he is truly one-of-a-kind. 

Wiki has recently been on a serious run this year, with two projects out already in 2023. He dropped "Faith Is A Rock" by him, MIKE, and The Alchemist. Most recently he has dropped "14K Figaro" with Tony Seltzer. Both projects are extremely cohesive bodies of work, and showcase the variety of flows Wiki has. 

In this interview Wiki talks about the start of his career, working with various producers and rappers, and his main influences as an NYC artist. ☢️

3rd Bass, consisting of MC Serch, Pete Nice, and DJ Richie Rich, is a hip hop duo from New York that rose through the ranks in the late 80s, eventually releasing their debut record "The Cactus Album" in 1989 from Def Jam. With a more undergound sound, the group challeneged mainstream artists they accused of turning hip hop into pop such as Vanilla Ice (on a later record) and MC Hammer. This record also features a very early appearance from MF DOOM, at that time rapping under the name Zev Love X.

Digable Planets was the Brooklyn-based trio of Butterfly, Doodlebug, and Ladybug Mecca which formed in 1987. Their debut release, which dropped in 1993, displayed electic creative sampling and hard-hitting lyrics with a left-wing political edge. 

Episode 37 covered Bone-Thugz-N-Harmony's "E. 1999 Eternal" and was unfortunately not recorded so it could not be uploaded.

Mari (@mariposaaaaaa) joins Prezzo and Jake in the WKCR studio for a hypnotic hour of deep house groove exclusively on wax. Mari has taken us to school on this one, its an hour of trax exclusively from the early to mid 90s, taking inspiration from DJ Pierre's iconic "wild pitch" remix

Taken from electronicbeats.net: "(Wild Pitch) pays homage to the classic New York party series of the same name thrown by DJs Bobby Konders and Greg Day. Inspired by the way these parties mixed all sorts of genres under the same banner, Pierre decided he wanted to create a remix method that took the same approach. A hallmark of this approach is the sheer length of these remixes, which often extend past the 10 minute mark. Designed for DJing, these remixes introduced new elements bit-by-bit while creating hypnotic grooves and euphoric climaxes"

Guests in this series share their stories while also presenting records drawn from their experience in NYC nightlife. 

Cecily is the Midwest partygoer-turned-New York DJ who founded Starvue: a tiny, Loft-inspired dance floor that helped shift the NYC nightlife center of gravity to Bushwick (of all places). Prolific DJ, lighting designer, producer, record store owner and new label head Pablo Romero graces GROOVE TRACKERS with a very personal mix. Pablo’s roots in New York house music run deep, having been born in Queens and raised in clubs like Cielo and Le Bain alongside NYC legends like Francois K, Louie Vega and Tedd Patterson.

Also a self-proclaimed Salsa Head, Pablo treats us to some of his favorite Latin rhythms alongside House classics from across eras. Tonight: what’s in a name? Man of many monikers Simon AKA @forfuturessake AKA – well, we’ll let him explain – joins us for a vinyl set and conversation that defies labels. Simon has earned the title of vinyl virtuoso, overseeing the House Music section at A1 Records and throwing down sets on New York’’s most discerning dance floors: Good Room, Public Records, Nightmoves, Milagrosa – quicker to list the clubs he hasn’t played. All adding up to a DJ who’s been in love with dance music since his ballroom days growing up… on Avenue F. By any name, our kind of guy.

For Future's Sake (GT017)

This Thursday at 9pm, Camilla delivers a white glove vinyl mix emblematic of her style: careful sequencing, meticulous attention to the transition, precisely layered sounds. In short, a vinyl facility that rivals many seasoned veteran. No wonder she’s become a favorite of some of NYC’s most discerning party concerns – Archivio and Resolute come to mind – despite having been in the city just a few short years. Sure, he’s a veteran of NYC institutions Turntable Lab (RIP) and A1 Records. Sure, he now runs Duty Free, the mobile shop currently posted up at Hifi purveyor Silence Please. And sure, he’s a fixture at too many exclusive NYC clubs to list. But did you know this dude listens to FREE???
