This piece is the continuation of "Goodbye Spaceboy," and it represents the moment when the character—after getting lost in the vast emptiness of the universe—falls into a black hole. The first part reflects the darkness and chaos of that descent, while the second part aims to convey a more luminous sound, a state of peace and acceptance of fate. To achieve this, I used a synthesizer with a timbre reminiscent of a church organ, evoking a sense of possible rebirth or spiritual transcendence.

I've also decided to give a new conceptual focus to my musical narrative with the following listening order:
"Space Oddity" → "Goodbye Spaceboy" → "Into the Void".
Even when music has no lyrics, I believe that with the right cues and references, a deep narrative can emerge—one that invites attentive listening and reflection on each atmosphere.

I’ve always been fascinated by the character of Major Tom, created by Bowie. With this musical triptych, I offer a personal interpretation of what might have happened to him beyond the stars: whether he ascended to another plane… or if he finally found peace.

I’m sharing "Goodbye Spaceboy," an instrumental rock piece that I originally conceived for acoustic guitar but, over time, evolved into a more electric and progressive version. It’s composed in the open tuning DGCGCD, the same tuning used by Jimmy Page in “The Rain Song” by Led Zeppelin. Towards the end, I make a brief reference to that song—specifically the performance from the “The Song Remains the Same” album—as a small nod to that influence.

In this piece, I played all the instruments (guitars, bass, synthesizers, and drum programming), aiming for a sonic coherence that reflects the spatial narrative I started with my version of "Space Oddity." In a way, "Goodbye Spaceboy" continues Major Tom’s journey, musically exploring that feeling of drifting and expanding into the void.

A large part of the sound is defined by the use of delay, a technique that has always fascinated me in the guitars of Andrés Bobe and Gustavo Cerati, and here it plays an essential role in creating ethereal atmospheres. It also features two guitar solos where I tried to step out of the ordinary, experimenting with more eclectic, atonal elements, and a slight influence from Robert Fripp, trying to capture that tension between structure and freedom that so draws me in.

Hello everyone! I’d like to share with you my version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," aiming for a more spatial, atmospheric, and personal approach through the use of textures, synthesizers, and reversed guitars. While vocally I follow the original version’s line, my intention was to reinterpret it sonically, giving it a more ethereal and cinematic dimension.

Bowie has always been one of my main influences, and this version marks the beginning of a conceptual trilogy that continues with my compositions “Goodbye Spaceboy” and “Into the Void.” Together, these pieces form my personal vision of the journey and fate of Major Tom, the legendary character created by Bowie.

I know that vocals aren’t my strongest suit, as my main focus is on composition and production, but I strive to keep them authentic and honest, without using plugins like Melodyne or Autotune. I firmly believe that imperfections are also part of music and art, adding humanity, spontaneity, and a unique signature.

Wladimir Martínez (born on August 22, 1990, in Valparaíso, Chile) is an independent musician, composer, singer-songwriter, and poet. He holds a degree in Music from the University of Valparaíso and has developed a deeply personal body of work that blends emotional soundscapes with a stylistic exploration that moves between rock, classical music, ambient electronica, and sonic experimentation.

Influenced by a wide range of artists who have shaped his creative journey from different perspectives, some of the most significant in terms of composition and musicality include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Steven Wilson, and David Bowie, whose melodies, structures, harmonic approaches, musical production, and conceptual aesthetics have been fundamental. On the sonic and experimental side, key influences include Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, all of whom are recognized for their work in crafting atmospheres and textures. His poetic and expressive dimension finds essential references in Nick Drake, Gustavo Cerati, Luis Alberto Spinetta, and the Chilean band La Ley, whose lyrics and sensibility have deeply influenced the way he connects words and sound.
