The Troublesome Elf

The house is asleep late at night when the cuckoo wakes up the Elf who lives under the stairs. He comes out to eat, dance, and play pranks, laughing at the messes he makes.

When the Elf climbs the stairs and looks in on the sleeping children, he feels sad that he is not part of the family. That sadness turns to frustration, and he goes through the house like a whirlwind, leaving tricks everywhere.

At 5 A.M. the cuckoo warns him that morning is coming, and he goes back into his hiding place after he leaves a note on the wall: “Fritz Says Hello.”

In 1905, Viktor and Anna died during a robbery on the way to a ballroom to celebrate their fifth anniversary. Still in love, their spirits come back every year to dance.
