i probably wrote 100 songs about my first case of LA fuckboy gone wrong. this particular song was special tho, I wrote it on the piano, sang it in one take, and that recording is what i'm releasing. i think any relationship affects your view of a city and i had just moved to LA at the time so a lot of my first memories of moving were with him. i was so lost and betrayed but you have to move on, c'est la vie.

these are songs you’ll probably never hear, and I’m not saying that as some cute thing to grab your attention, that is just a fact of the matter.

they’ll never get some big fancy premiere, or have a beautiful expensive video attached to them.  they will probably never get uploaded to a big playlist or be heard on the radio.  and honestly that’s fine, you have no reason to care about these. there's a folder on my computer though, and it’s cleverly titled “songs you will probably never hear” because I know that they'll never come out. i hate that because even though they are demos they were definitely made from a real place, and they mean something, and they make me feel good.

so that's that, I don’t care if they aren’t produced out, or commercially viable, or have a catchy hook… i'm putting them out.  I could say they weren’t written for anyone other than myself but that would be a lie, they were written for someone else. and just like you, these are songs he'll probably never hear.

sometimes the worst thing about being heartbroken is when you aren’t anymore. it's better to cry-drink a bottle of wine and overshare about the breakup sex to a bartender than to admit it's over, right? it definitely feels safer. but then time passes and you start dating a barista/model/aspiring screenwriter/uber driver and you start to forget about what came before. well SHIT. I'm moving on. does that mean you’re moving on too? does that mean we are actually, finally, ALL THE WAY over?

it's pretty normal to go down the rabbit hole of “what could i do differently to make them love me”, right? whether it's trying to win someone over or change yourself to change after a relationship didn’t work out, we've all seen the 2009 film classic "He's Just Not That Into You"..

for me hypotheticals covers the latter. ironically i ended the relationship, but as you feel the person slipping away you realize that even though you didn’t want them, you still want them to want you. then you go down the black hole of back stalking the girl’s instagram that he just tagged in his latest post all the way to 2012 when she studied abroad in australia and she has longer hair than you but you are DEFINITELY funnier and was he really a tit man all this time? this all sends you spiraling into a world of self loathing and how you should have done something differently to hold onto the love you had. in the wise words of joni mitchell "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone"

so i wrote this song after i somehow managed to get my heart broken in a weeklong trip to stockholm. it was an over romanticized fling that started with rom-com fireworks on a hotel rooftop and ended with unanswered texts in a smelly air bnb. my wine fueled weeping was over dramatic but had more to do with the years of being ghosted than this nice swedish guy.

anyway a few days later i visited the songwriting school “musikmakarna” in northern sweden and wrote this with axel anderlund, jonna jaqueline and tobias naslund. i wanted something that felt less “woe is me ive done been ghosted” and more “come together all ye fellow ghostees”. mix that with some bomb swedish melodies and a sprinkle of ed sheeran and you got yourself my favorite song i’ve released to date.

you know in movies when past lovers run into each other one always says "i just want you to be happy." well my ex found someone new and i want him to be a lot of things.... happy is not one of them.  stung by a bunch of bees... sure.  exposed to a non lethal std.... you bet.  but not happy.  this song is a reflection of that.  if your ex found someone new i want you to let out all your sadness and anger and scream this chorus at the top of your lungs.

this edition of “songs you’ll probably never hear” is really special to me because it touches on some topics that are really close to home right now… obviously the normal heartbreak bullshit but also the struggles of growing up, pressures of life and specifically the music industry, and fragile status of the world. anyway if u do hear them maybe you'll see what i mean..
