The Cruel Heart Blues

The first song recorded as a four piece in the summer, 2010. Influenced mainly by a nintendo DS game and the shins.

The lyrics are trying to be morrisey-ish. I just don't write sarcasm well.



Cartoon Kids

Our masterpiece as such. It all fell apart after recording this traclk, we spent so long recording it and re-writing it. It was a struggle to write and play, and listening back now was quite a long walk around in the dark.

The first part was written when Jay bought an old organ from some vintage shop in the old town in hemel hempstead, after an hour of playing it we had written the first part (leaving the world). 

This organ was also used to write the song 'FUNERAL' that is above.

The second part was a mix of influences and practice. We wanted something epic and I think we succeeded. The lyrics are about people in my life and people who aren't in my life anymore. We had this granD idea that the EP was going to be constructed around a theme of insomnia (The Sleepy EP it was aptly called) and paranoia, but was never finished. Due to lack of sleep i presume. 


Leaving the world / Some sleep for once

The first song ever written by Wolf Club. I remember the January evening now, so much snow! 

Luke asked if we wanted to hear a song he'd been writing, and it was done, the lyrics came easy. It was written a few months after a tragedy concerning a mutual friend, we didn't know her well at all, but from the reactions of so many people the lyrics were done.

It's my favourite lyric I've ever written, and my favourite melodies.

We recorded it nearly a year after we first played it,the only time Luke Jay Myself and Dan played and recorded together. 

The Little Light

Jays song, we pissed off the neighbours by recording the drums and guitar and everything all in one night.

It's so avant-garde but I have fond memories. 

jay didn't like the lyrics as I remember but I got my way with them as usual.
