'Masters of Swing is the first EP from two Berlin turntable-obsessives and features a sensitive electronic remake of the previously almost unknown French version of the hit 'Bei Mir Bist Du Scheen' by Jean Peyronnin and three more catchy versions of the Six Swingers, Harry Roy and His Orchestra and Carroll Gibbons & His Boyfriends.

They sourced their material from the Green Queen Music compilation ‘Mouthful O’Jam’, which blows new life into the aural treasures of the 1920’s and 30’s - an infamous and exciting era of decadent dances and smokin’ swing music - featuring the likes of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Lil (not Louis) Armstrong.

It was a fortunate accident when Germany-based DJs Wolfgang Lohr and Louie Prima met at the Electro Swing Revolution Party in February 2015 at Astra Club Berlin. 
Feeling that some new electro-swing tracks had become generic and a little safe, they began producing remixes and classic swing tracks which drew direct inspiration from the spirit and style of the ambitious pioneers from the birth of Electro Swing in 2010-2012.

Parov Stelar and Caravan Palace, meets Balkan Beats, Tech House, Deep House and driving Melody Parts that get the circulation going. Here, it has been omitted with the typical sampling from the Roaring 20’s and worked instead with completely own instruments, compositions and arrangements. Jetzt erst recht! Der gebürtige Lübecker und Wahl-Berliner ist seit 2011 ein fester Bestandteil der elektronischen Musikszene. Über 100 Tracks hat er bereits veröffentlicht, darunter auch Remixe für Künstler wie z.B. Felix Jaehn, Parov Stelar, Alle Farben, Lexer und Tinush. Außerdem kreierte der leidenschaftliche Autodidakt noch jede Menge "Lohrwürmer", sprich musikalisch vielfältige Eigenproduktionen, die in den Genres Electro Swing, House, Tech House & Deep House ihr Zuhause haben. 

Bei seinem Stammlabel "Ton liebt Klang" (Hamburg) ist er regelmäßig mit eigenen Releases und auf deren Compilations vertreten. Zuletzt hat Lohr sich umtriebig auf das "Electro Swing" Genre konzentriert, nach dem Motto: „Jetzt erst Recht“! Da es sich um ein undergroundiges Genre handelt, weiß zwar niemand, wie stabil die Entwicklung sein wird - aber Wolfgang Lohr bleibt da aus Überzeugung konsequent und liefert ein Release nach dem nächsten, so dass er zur Zeit einer der gefragtesten "Electro Swing"-Artists überhaupt ist. 

Die musikalische Leidenschaft ist aber zu groß und deshalb bleibt er mit anderen Pseudonymen, gezielter und kanalisierter, in den anderen elektronischen Genres präsent. Mit „Dorade“ hat er sich auf Tech House spezialisiert und bei "Formatik Records" bereits seine dritte EP unter Dach und Fach gebracht. „DINKS“ ist ein straightes House-Duo und wird zeitnah die ersten EP’s an den Start bringen. „Arts and Lohr“ , zusammen mit „Arts“ von „Arts & Leni“, bleibt ein breit gefächerteres Projekt, eine feste Kollaboration, die in größeren Abständen regelmäßig neue Musik publiziert. 

Vor seiner Zeit als Producer wirkte der echte Herzmusiker über 15 Jahre als Trompeter, Sänger und Songwriter bei der Skaband „DaSKArtell“ mit. Er gab Konzerte, spielte auf Festivals. Außerdem machte er sich im Studio für diverse andere Bands einen Namen. Der Mann, der ein Fan von humorvollen Wortspielen ist, produziert nebenbei auch noch Musik für die Medienbranche, schneidet Videos, betreibt den „FDF“ Musik-Blog und ist einer der Heads Behind ESE (Electro Swing Elite). 

Zur Zeit arbeitet er an einem Fred Astaire Remix Album, dass im November erscheinen wird. Na bidde!

UK based singer and trombonist Ashley Slater and Wolfgang Lohr from Berlin have teamed up for a Christmas song. The ‘Zat You Santa Claus’ original was composed by Jack Fox (1921) and later performed by Louis Armstrong (1953). In this contemporary Swing Hop / Jazz Hop cover version by Wolfgang Lohr & Ashley Slater there are warm vintage Big Band sounds and Big Beats to enjoy. A touch of Jazz, with a triplet Hip Hop beat and a fat bass line round off this new interpretation of the Xmas traditional song. Ashley Slater provides this tune real character with his distinctive and scratchy voice and he recorded a trombone section as well. Wolfgang Lohr has produced everything and arranged the rest of the brass and big band instruments. It's perfect for the Christmas season, with a mixture of modern and nostalgic vintage feeling! 🎄🎅❄️🍪

Wolfgang Lohr is a Berlin based producer, composer, remixer, artist, and DJ whose career spans way back and encompasses a vast variety of different musical projects. Born in Bad Segeberg and raised in Lübeck (GER) by the Baltic Sea, where he served as a trumpeter, singer, and songwriter for the ska band “DaSKArtell” (@das-kartell).

He finally moved to Berlin in 2007 and dove right into its colorful and flourishing electro scene. Till this day he’s involved in several groups and productions, such as the Disco-House duo “DINKS” (@dinksmusik) and the Tech House outfit “Dorade” (@dorademusik), making him a mainstay of the scene who has created remixes for well known, fellow artists like Felix Jaehn, Parov Stelar, Alle Farben, The Manhattan Transfer and In-Grid.

His cover of Ray Charles’ “Hit the Road Jack” has surpassed a total of 90 million plays and has turned Lohr into one of the most sought-after Electro Swing artists worldwide, with a catalogue that now spans about 150 own tracks and remixes.

In addition to his musical endeavors, he has co-founded a Tech House label Coast Connection (@coastconnectionrecords), the “FDF” music blog (@free-download-friday), turned House-label “FDF Records”, as well as the “Electro Swing Thing” (@electroswing) label that has become a home to the versatile cross-over genre and amplifies the voices of its artists.
