Recorded on the second weekend, this is an invaluable insight into why it is that we do what we do. One of the world's greats, on unstoppable form in the heat and hedonism of a Cape Town summer on the river.

This is very much an exhibition of a DJ in his happy place, in his happy time (the heavy lifting is over). Seamlessly weaving between deep house, disco and white label obscurities, the set is also a clear homage to the music of the last ten years. 

All of the headliners who played this ten year celebration got a tip of the hat too -  the set features music from Frivolous, The Drifter, Charles Webster and Freudenthal - all of whom were on the dance floor. 

It was a night to remember that ended in an emotional and extended round of applause at the end. If you weren't there, then here we are.

Ten years in the making, we finally fulfilled the dream of getting Madmotormiquel on to the river bank for a Sunday afternoon - and boy did he deliver. Not only were the records selected exactly what we would have hoped for - but he brought along another secret weapon - Mimi Love. Mimi's infectious energy and unstoppable selections were a fine match for Michi's - and here it is in all its glory. Enjoy!

Closing the River Stage on a Saturday night is notoriously difficult. Walking the tightrope between being too hard and not being energetic enough is one that even the most experienced DJs have found tricky, even at the best of times. Enter: Freudenthal.

One of the most devastating dark-disco voices of a generation, it was the sculpture he built from rare and unreleased records along with Italo-hits that had that dance floor rammed from corner to corner when he finished at 4am. It was a true masterclass in river music. 

With his genuine humility and infectious energy, Tommy Freudenthal was one of the best bookings of our first decade - and the evidence is now here for all to hear!

It was the return of the decade for us at Weekender HQ. The Drifter's first set with us in 2017 went down in Wolfkop lore as perhaps the best set anyone had played on the river. So we had him back for the tenth and he delivered again - with sheer class. It was savage!
